treeduck
Geddy doesn't do super-long bass solos as we know, everything he plays is within the context and for the benefit of the song, but by and large there's plenty of Geddy stand out stand alone demos of his bass super powers. So what are your faves? (PS if you don't like me calling you a Rush whore then you better get ready for an old fashioned punch up - except Necro who's to huge to fight fairly against, I'll have to sneak up behind him and hit him a few times with a frying pan...) rushfanNlv
One of my favorites has always been the breakdown in Mission where he and Neil are playing in unison, it's just so fast and in perfect time with Neil. It's the part right before he sings: It's cold comfort To the ones without it To know how they struggled- How they suffered about it
MrHands
Rush whore...I resemble that remark Turn the Page - bitchin bass line!
-D-RocK-
The bassline in Limelight during Alex's solo is downright arsekickin'. Need I add YYZ to the list? I'm sure this is a no-brainer. Of course there's plenty more.
rushfanNlv
QUOTE (MrHands @ Nov 18 2006, 03:24 PM) Rush whore...I resemble that remark Turn the Page - bitchin bass line! How the hell does he play that bass line and sing at the same time? I mean, I really think the guy has some sort of super human ability to be able to do that. Necromancer
Ever since I realized how much Geddy's TONE sucks... i don't like any of his solos. Hell... i don't even like anymore. If you want to hear how AND Geddy's bass SHOULD sound... you must listen to PRIME MOVER, a tribute band. THAT bass player is phenomenal, and ALL his bass lines just CRUSH!!! :prime mover:

priest_of_syrinx
The part with the guitar solo in A Farewell To Kings where it starts off as "da DA da da da da dada do da da da da da dada do DA..." then he goes off and does his own crazy thing is awesome. All of La Villa Strangiato's bass parts Freewill (duh) YYZ Vital Signs Analog Kid red lenses (especially the solo on the fadeout) Grand Designs Marathon Middletown Dreams Mystic Rythms *insert the Hold Your Fire album, highlight Prime Mover + Turn The Page* Show Don't Tell (the solos, especially. Those are some of his best solos) Leave That Thing Alone! Limbo Ceiling Unlimited

Finbar
The Enemy Within has a great bassline. I was gonna mention Turn the Page, but it appears I've been beaten to the punch. I love all the basslines on Caress of Steel, particularly on Lakeside Park.
thesweetscience
"The Big Money" The solo and the part behind the "its the power and the glory" lyric. Those are some pretty tight bass riffs.

treeduck
I think my favourite Geddy bass part is the whole of Prime Mover, that's just cool bass playing right the way through and as I've said before that whole album has more of Geddy's best bass playing on it than any other.
