Necromancer
So today I went to the comic shop and I'm talking to my buddy Dave who owns the place. There's this big guy with long hair there and I ask him... Hey... isn't that Linser? I was half-kidding, cuz I really didn't think Linser would be there, but it DID look just like him. So Dave didn't reply, so i just thought he didn't think it was funny. See... Linser's a BIIIIG guy. Maybe Dave thought I was busting on his customer. I'm known to do stuff like that. So anyway, later on, Dave asks if I know Linser. I'm like YEAH i know Linser. I met him a few times at comic conventions. He nods in the guy's direction. It turned out that Dave just didn't hear me about the guy looking like Linser and it WAS Joseph Michael Linser. Cool huh? So anyway, we got to talking about how the creator of Conan was kind of insane and had dreams that Conan would come to him and talk to him. So I turn to Linser and ask... Did DAWN ever come to you in YOUR dreams? He laughed and said no. We then had a conversation about how he actually did create his HIGHLY successful character DAWN. Here's a nice shot. http://www.katyberry.com/BettyBoop/images/dawn.jpg

Astonishing X-Men, were dear Emma is the star, is quite an enjoyable read. Too slow IMHO, but very high quality. She pops up even on Uncanny and adjectiveless, but only as a guest. QUOTE She had a limited series. I'll have to get that. I say don't bother, it's quite lame.

Necromancer
Back on topic eh? Felicia Hardy goes from one extreme to another. Arndrake
Does the Dark Phoenix count? http://www.e-frontier.com/ezimagecatalogue/catalogue/variations/3495-650x1500.jpg This was the storyline that really got me hooked on X-Men. I was always astounded by the amount of power she had, combined with the destruction she caused. To start out as good and be changed into bad usually causes sympathy from readers instead of disgust. Probably because we come to like the characters and don't want to have to turn around and hate them. Plus, she's a redhead, which I love. Interesting that we were discussing Emma Frost before. She has a lot of connection with Jean Grey. As the White Queen of Hellfire Club's Inner Circle, it was her that started the events that caused Jean's change into the Dark Phoenix when the Inner Circle decided they wanted Jean as their Black Queen. In Astonishing X-Men, after Jean has died (don't know how that happened), Emma joins with Cyclops both in the classroom and in the bedroom. Her history is very convoluted. I remember them saying that DP and Jean Grey were NEVER the same being. Jean was encased in some kind of shell as DP "assumed" her identity. When "jean" took her own life... that wasn't really Jean, but the DP version of her. So then when Jean came back... she's no longer this horribly violent, god-like being. But in the last few years, I've seen her exhibit Phoenix like power. So i'm at a loss over this myself. X-books are a bit convoluted that way. That's why I stopped buying them. When Marvel originally said that Jean Grey and Phoenix were 2 seperate entities (with Jean being encased), THAT'S when I stopped collecting comics. The idea of Phoenix cloning Jean (or however they explained it...I can't remember exactly) was an embarassment in my opinion. It meant that ALL those classic X-tales in the late 70s-early 80s wasn't actually Grey but the Phoenix force/clone. And 'yes' Necro, X-men is convoluted. I can't understand ANYTHING anytime I try to read an X-title in the shop. I doubt I'll ever really get back into it again.

Howard's CONAN series. I'm surprised there wasn't many good pics to find. I had to include Belit though. She was Conan's true love and one of the most vicious pirates of the hyborian age. But inside her heart there was a heroine just waiting to come out. Wow... this may be Sal Buscema's art. I can't remember anymore.
