  1. i do think there are a few good modern ones but there's just... it's difficult to explain - in the context of the old episodes, the new ones "suck" but in the context of tv overall, they don't. i think it's that the quality was so high at one point that where they are now seems like such a great decline. that's not to say that some of the new ones aren't amusing, such as the one where they split the school into boys and girls. i enjoyed that one a lot, but it's still no "i call the big one bitey"
  2. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Jul 27 2006, 01:00 PM) Right now, the current eps suck. yes. yes they do *le sigh*
  3. up until recently i had forgotten how much i enjoyed them... the vocals are just so lovely. definitely a lost classic in my brain
  4. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Jul 24 2006, 09:55 PM) QUOTE (feelingwithyourskin @ Jul 24 2006, 01:56 PM) bloc party on thursday, and editors on friday too bad i'm going to a wedding on saturday morning (in which the mr. is a member of the party ). much caffeine will be required Ha, you go to all the same shows I do. I am seeing Bloc Party on Aug 4th, then Editors Aug 7th. i'm actually going to go into a bit of withdrawl after the editors' show... i don't have anything booked for august and i haven't gone more than 18 days between concerts since february. enjoy

  7. "skank stamp" or "bullseye" is the term that i've heard most frequently. i'm not a fan of most tattoos, but there are some beautiful, well done ones out there that are truly works of art. i haven't personally seen any of the lower back/skank stamp ones qualify as beautiful, though. most of the time, as offensive as it may be, the women i know with them live up to the nickname. perhaps it's a variation of chris rock's "if she has a pierced tongue, she will probably suck your dick" bit and yes, i do understand the irony of this post/my signature as i said, i do like some tattoos
  8. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Jul 10 2006, 08:23 PM) Then, with thanks to Moonraker and Feelwithyourskin for the recommendation (and I always listen to what these august individuals tell me), it was back to the New Band Tent for Cut Copy. Brilliant. Absolutely f***ing brilliant. The bastard love children of The Human League, Orbital and New Order, they were defintitely the discovery of the weekend for me. glad you enjoyed them now go out and buy bright like neon love, you won't be disappointed. i opened my last show with saturdays, and closed with saturdays (reprise) and it went over well the weekend sounds amazing, and this jerseyan is very jealous (though happy for you)
  9. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Jul 4 2006, 03:15 PM) QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Jul 4 2006, 02:30 AM) The annual Oxegen is on this coming weekend. Over 100 acts on the line-up, so as usual , I've isolated my must sees, and then we'll see what we can fit in around these, timetable permitting Saturday The Who The Strokes The Futureheads Gomez Jenny Lewis Republic Of Loose The Spinto Band Emm Gryner Sunday Red Hot Chilli Peppers Rodrigo Y Gabriela Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Pretty Girls Make Graves The Zutons Manu Chao Wolfmother Leya Full Line-Up Here I'm hoping o catch the Arctic Monkeys and at least some of the Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand. I also want to see at least some of Maximo Park, We Are Scientists, Delays, Animal Collective and The Magic Numbers, but that'll depend on how fast we can run between 'Different Stages' (OK, just shoot me now!!!!!!!!). Damn, those Europeans always get the best festivals. I'd definatly check out The Editors, The Futureheads, The Crimea, Maximo Park, The Cribs, Goldfrapp, The Charlatans, White Rose Movement, CUT COPY(!!!) in addition to the ones you just named. That is one incredible lineup for a festival. i am highly envious i saw cut copy open for franz ferdinand last year and they were excellent. definitely try to see them if you get a chance
  10. echo and the bunnymen was incredibly disappointing. doors opened at irving plaza at 8, and we got there at 8:40ish. the guy said the opener would be on at 9:15, and e&tb at 10:15, which seemed normal. the opening act, boy kill boy, didn't get on stage until 9:35. they weren't bad - a little generic sounding and needed more practice time - but they were on till about 10 and e&tb didn't get on till 11:10, at which point i was really really pissed off and tired, so i just couldn't enjoy it. plus they gave of this "we're so punk we hate our fans" vibe that turned me off. coming up next: reel big fish and mxpx. woo, dance time
  11. oh yeah, just got tickets to see bloc party woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  13. QUOTE (Bastille Night @ Jun 30 2006, 12:14 AM) QUOTE (feelingwithyourskin @ Jun 29 2006, 05:14 PM) fairly short and angular. the back is about an inch and a half long, and it gets longer as you go to the front... kind of like this but slightly longer in the back, and not black: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/bastillenight/3c1638b7.jpg AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, guy moment...... well the rest of me doesn't look like her, but the haircut is very cool
  14. fairly short and angular. the back is about an inch and a half long, and it gets longer as you go to the front... kind of like this but slightly longer in the back, and not black. it's wonderful, because i never have to worry about being hot and having it on the back of my neck, but i have a lot of versatility with the front parts. usually i just part it to the side and slick it behind my ears and let it air dry. the humidity gives it this wavy thing, but it looks pretty good.

QUOTE (DonnaWanna @ Jun 28 2006, 07:03 PM) QUOTE (feelingwithyourskin @ Jun 28 2006, 10:37 AM) QUOTE (Mrs. Huck Rogers @ Jun 24 2006, 04:48 AM) it's probably not important are you very thirsty more often? 16. QUOTE (Kid_Gloves @ Jun 28 2006, 06:43 PM) I do love fashion. My style is a bit odd; a random assortment of pieces that I dig. My staples: Band t-shirts of favorites (Rush, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, NIN) Ripped Jeans Converse Studded Belts Big sunglasses Vintage items, especially a good dose of '80s Girly items Miniskirts Cute flats ...All mixed together awesome i'm very similar, style wise, though usually minus the sunglasses since i have regular glasses that tint in the sun

  18. QUOTE (pixey @ Jun 22 2006, 11:14 AM) QUOTE (feelingwithyourskin @ Jun 20 2006, 11:26 AM) nin was friday night and really excellent. much better than i expected. every part of the show fit together well, and was clearly thought out. echo and the bunnymen next I saw both NIN and Echo and the Bunneymen. Echo was good, saw them back in 85 or 86 and I saw NIN at the first Lollapalooza, NIN sucked. One of the worst bands live I have ever seen (The Melvins and Young Black Teenagers only being worse) . Every since I cant listen to them. that's a shame that it was so bad. i think trent's been really into his performances since he got off the smack, so you may want to give them another try. i go to a concert roughly every two-three weeks and the nin show was in the top three i've seen this year.

  22. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Jun 23 2006, 08:56 AM) Thanks to TV Week. Three years after Fox canceled the show, Matt Groening's "Futurama" will resume production for a 13-episode run on Comedy Central. The new episodes will be added to the network's library of 72 "Futurama" episodes previously licensed from 20th Century Fox Television. Voice talent Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio will return for the new episodes, which will debut in 2008. "There is a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show that matches perfectly with our audience and it is great that we can offer them not just the existing library, but something they've never seen as well," said David Bernath, senior VP, programming, Comedy Central. "Futurama" marks the third Fox project revived by basic cable in recent years. New episodes of "Greg the Bunny" are being ordered by IFC, and Fox resurrected "Family Guy" after the series found success on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. "hooray! now zoidberg is the popular one!" it's going to be weird to see them on comedy central. i would have expected it on cartoon network, seeing as how they already show the old seasons. either way, i hope it's good. futurama was excellent, and it really showed when groening moved his focus away from the simpsons and onto futurama
