Did you know that Xanadu was recorded in one take? THE FIRST TAKE?* Amazing.

Post your amazing and interesting facts about Rush here. (Not the silly true or false facts from rush.com please. I'm almost positive that Alex Lifeson did not eat five thousand million pounds of cheese in one sitting.)

Been done already? Too bad. My search button is broken. sarcasm.gif

He stayed only two months, and quit in May, 1971

The whole history is one big "Rush Little-Known Fact" . . .

In 1969 Lindy Young came onboard at the request of Alex to play keyboards and occasional back-up guitars. Surprsingly, Geddy was asked to leave Rush that May, and he went on to form his own band which he first called "Ogilvie", but later opted for the name "Judd".

Rush and Judd were both managed by Ray Daniels. Geddy was replaced in Rush by bassist and vocalist Joe Perna. Soon after Geddy's expulsion, the name of the band was changed to "Hadrian." Geddy Lee had such terrific success with his newly formed band ("Judd") that

Lindy Young made the decision to leave Rush and join Judd.

[ from Wikipedia ]

Lindy Young's sister married a guy named Geddy Lee.

They should have never let him go. Rush could have had their Malcolm Young.

According to Terry Brown at RushCon I, the recording sessions for "A Farewell to Kings" was his favorite. Everything worked fairly well.

His least favorite: recording sessions for "Hemispheres", due to the sound quality, mixing, etc....

Geddy Lee's name is included on the light airplane reading leaflet, "Famous Jewish Rock Legends."

Him and Gene Simmons; that's it.

.

(It's a joke. See "Airplane.")

did you know that March 12, 1975 was exactly 2 weeks before my 6th birthday (which I recall fondly)?

Well, you know it now!

Not to split hairs, but I distinctly remember reading somewhere (perhaps one of Neil's book?) that La Villa wasn't done in one take.

They *tried* to do it in one take, but they couldn't keep the tempo at the consistency they wanted throughout the song. So they did it in like 3 separate takes and spliced them together.

I swear I read this, somebody tell me I'm wrong. But if you do, I will spend the rest of my years finding the passage where I read this.

Cheers,

Schro
