Tortoise and Hare Posted August 6, 2009 Share Posted August 6, 2009 We just arrived home from Wallingford, CT, - - one of THE most AWESOME nights of my life!!!!! We're exhausted in such a good way!!! But I wanted to quickly add a tidbit due to the earlier discussion about John Myung. In the final bow tonight, Myung was actually smiling, laughing - - and he ran across the stage high-fiving the front row! Tortoise got it all on tape - - or whatever you call it these days - - "recorded", I guess!!! He'll post the clip in the morning with the most incredible pics of DT you ever want to see!!!!! Tick Posted August 6, 2009 Author Share Posted August 6, 2009 Great time last night !!! Great to see Tortoise and Hare again ! Also great to hang with my bud Metaldad ! 90 minutes goes by way too fast ! The Count Of Tuscany gave me the same feeling I had when I heard Octavarium live ! Pure awesome. Great set list overall. 3 songs from Scenes !!! Also I now have a new appreciation for Sacrificed Sons. Hearing it live game it new meaning. Did I mention 90 minutes goes by way to fast !!! My wife Laurette absolutely loved the band. It was her first DT show ! I was thrilled watching her excitement. The mix seemed perfect last night. Everything was in balance. 3 songs off of Scenes !!! The other bands were also good. I missed Scale The Summit due to beer consumption with friends. That was more important to me. Mike seemed a bit annoyed that the crowd lacked a bit of energy. It sort of did. That being said, I think the band played a great set. Heres is last nights list... The Chevy is only a 2 and a half hour drive west of us and we were so thrilled with this newly remodeled older theater!!! Easy access, easy parking, great accoustics, polite and gracious staff, CLEAN!!!, and most importantly, THE BEST crowd of ROCKERS (ALL ages - men AND women) we've been privileged to groove with in a long time!!! We had never been to the Chevy before and when we called the scalpers to buy tix we were shown a diagram which included a GA pit. We thought that was odd because we had never heard that DT conducted a pit, but never having been to this new venue we were confused. So, I asked Tick if he thought I would have a chance at seeing from behind the pit even though I'm only 5'2". He thought I was slightly tapioca! (My students would agree!!) So, even though I confused the hell out of him, he informed us that the venue was shaped in such a way that the stage is well-appointed for everyone to enjoy the show!!! He was one hundred percent SPOT-ON with his advice!!! It's a great theater!!! But what no one had confirmed is that THERE WAS NO F*in' PIT!!! We had expected to be in the second row behind the pit. We were actually in the second row from the stage. It was all I could do not to pee my pants!!! So, enjoy the pics!!!
