rushgoober Posted January 18, 2006 Share Posted January 18, 2006 i've been thinking of hilda so much lately, i thought i'd post another memory. one day in the spring of 2238 i hopped a starfreighter to the alpha centauri system. i was considering getting into the dyzantium industry as the gems were gaining popularity in the outer rim, and i wanted to start importing them to earth and the martian colony. hilda was serving drinks in the skylounge, and while yes, techinically she was a robot, it didn't stop us from striking up a close freindship, staying up late into the evening playing backgamman and flobo and sipping thelusian butter creams until we were both as giddy as orion miniots! one night during a particularly heated game of flobo, we were boarded by a crew of rebel dyznatium miners who broke away from the syndicate and wanted sanctuary on our freighter until they could reach a little known moon outside the alpha centauri system that rumor had it was rich in dzyantium, where they could create a new life for themselves outside of the sydnicate's grasp. you can imagine the end of the tale - hilda and i hopped a shuttle with the rebels to the moon. we were soon married and the profits from my dyzantium exports made us dizzyingly wealthy. we had 4 lovely children and spent many happy decades together. it was a great tragedy when my death came as we both knew it would, her not being able to die. my funeral was lovely, and hilda ended her eulogy with these beautiful words that i'll never forget: "i know that my goob will one day return to me, that one day we will again be together - maybe in another time, in another place. until that day, inside of me i keep the flame of hope alive, burning brightly and white hot!" well, i'm back hilda. i'm waiting for you to return again, now human, but as beautiful and luminous as you ever were. come back to me hilda! together we will sear the sky - you in a glorious chariot pulled by cats, butterflies dripping from your hand, me riding a wild boar, spilling flowers and fruits in my wake as we travel together into the waiting arms of destiny! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y268/rushgoober/vescape2.jpg Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
