rushgoober Posted January 16, 2006 Share Posted January 16, 2006 (edited) i have a theory here. it may sound somewhat blasphemous, so please forgive me that and try and keep an open mind while reading it. i was thinking about hilda, about how she's become more than a woman (more than a woman to me - i digress) here on TRF, in large part due to this thread, but of course stemming from her oft-quoted and indelibly memorable participation here as well, brief as it was. her huge personality, whose aura still lingers since her tragic departure, so easily fills a room. i would even argue that she has so dominated this board, that she has become less a person on TRF, but truly an institution in itself. that being said, maybe TRF is better without hilda. maybe her legend is so large that the actual return of her flesh and blood presence, no matter how beautiful and dynamic, would be too much for us to bear, especially considering how much her stature has grown and how she has so deeply touched even those here who didn't know her directly. perhaps the ecstasy of her would be too great. with every thread, with every post, with every chat her presence is felt and her shadow is cast. perhaps that very unseen presence is all we should ever be allowed to have. her visage and demeanor looms so brightly, that maybe if she was to return we couldn't handle the glory of her full bearing. perhaps it would burn and destroy us all with its majesty. maybe it's just better this way... aw, f*ck it - i miss her. I can't explain why I was away at this time, but all you need to know is that i AM back and will never leave again. To the wonderful man known simply as TICK... THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THE FLAME ALIVE.
