On a side note, the Utah Hockey Club has picked Tij Igilna as their first draft pick.  :fistbump:

Utah picks up Sergachev from the Bolts?  Didn't see that coming.  Armstrong is loading up on big D guys, Marino from New Jersey as well.

Avs got 3 goalies in draft, which they need.  Free Agency Monday will be a busy day. :hockey2:

And this hit me hard: Alec Martinez (2014, all is forgiven) Pat Maroon (must be smelling a winner) and Craig Smith are also joining the Hawks.

Guess Trouba is getting a lot of flak from Rangers fans for refusing to go to Detroit.  Guess he negotiated his no trade clause to not interfere with his wife's career, she's a doctor.  My opinion of him just went up, hope it works out for them.

Avs re-signed Kirivanta which is good and they are keeping Drouin for another year, yay!

Also, hoping Brossoit will give Mrazek a strong competition.

That's a good pick, Brossoit played some in the 2023 Cup Finals

So who is Rick Ball?  Heard he's going to be announcing for the Hawks this year

He did Calgary games before. He has a good voice. I guess it's a step up, because Vosters wasn't really a hockey guy.

No wonder Gretzky had it easy, we were always in the box.

Stan Bowman is the new Oilers GM. Rhyta is smiling somewhere right now.

Shaking my head more like it.  Why would they do this?  Makes no sense to me:confused:

We all remember what happened after the 2010 season. We lost about eleven players. In 2011 and 12, Kane and Toews have shown they couldn't get it done by themselves. I think Bowman deserves just a tiny bit of credit for the 2013 and 2015 championships.

Or he was just lucky to have great players to work with, just because he was Scotty Bowman's son doesn't mean he was as good as his father.  I am not a fan of Bowman for many reasons but he turned everything upside down. Once his father was no longer there to give him suggestions, it went south quickly.  First with turmoil in the front office, all the people leaving (or forced out) and no one to check his impulses.  The horrible trades, that coupled with retirements of key people gutted the team.  Edmonton should have given this more thought.  If Ken Holland walks away, taking on Bowman with all his baggage may not be a smart move.

Putting a new team together is never an easy task. He was able to get/keep guys like Handzus, Kruger, Saad, Shaw, Leddy, Oduya, Rozsival, Emery, Bolland, Bickell. But if you believe it was all because of his old man, then the conversation is mute, because I have no way of knowing that.
