anagramking
Does Ralph Kiner still call games for them at all? I remember after a pitching change, he supposedly said that all of the new reliever's saves had come in relief appearances.

Sorry, Tick. I was spoiled listening to Vin Scully call games in my youth. If I'm going to pick on announcers, I need not look any further than here, with Hawk Harrelson announcing for the White Sox. He is very likely the worst announcer I've ever heard. And you can put that on the board. Yes.

That song brings back so many memories My first favorite Met was Tommy Agee #20 Who was your 1st Favorite? Edward Emil Kranepool my first favorite met was tom seaver. my alltime favotite met is keith hernandez. I was at the game where they retired Seaver's number. It was awesome. I guess my all time fav would be Wally Backman. I don't know why, other than he was the little guy who would always get things going. Just like me. The pest. I just connected with that. Although, he's not all that great, and seems to be more of a problem than anything else anymore. Just at that time, being a kid... I like him. I have dig up the picture of my mother with Seaver's wife at the '69 series. Edited April 18, 2006 by paganoman
Rush!
I'm a huge Mets fan myself! Glad to see people who finally don't like the Yankees. Most overrated baseball team in history IMO. Well, anyway, the Mets are sadly sucking right now against the Braves, thanks to Zambrano.
anagramking
They just exploded for six runs tonight in the 8th inning out in San Diego. Peavy pitched a 7 inning gem, giving up one run and only four hits, and leaving the game with a 2-1 lead. Linebrink and Embree just blew this game for him. I miss the old school complete game. I know the game has changed and they won't go back anytime soon. But there was something about the starter going out with the idea that the game was his to finish. Peavy had thrown 96 pitches after 7 innings, and he had struck out three batters over the last two innings. Was he really ready to come out? He had retired the heart of the order in the 7th. One would think he could handle the rest. At least the 8th and let Hoffman come in and close the 9th. I know this doesn't necessarily belong in a Mets thread, but it is an interesting baseball issue to me. Beltran left the game with hamstring issues, by the way. anagramking
A couple more interesting things about tonight's game. Kaz Matsui hit an inside the park homer. Also, the ageless Julio Franco hit a pinch-hit two run homer in the eighth to give the Mets the lead for good. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb
