Dr. Dre

Hope he gets well soon. He's not dead, but an aneurism is nothing to scoff at.

It nearly killed Bill Berry of R.E.M. while touring in support of Monster.

A horrible tragedy narrowly avoided. I repeat, an aneurism is nothing to scoff at.

Thanks for clarifying that early in the thread. Bathory is not exactly a fountain of information -- he composes his posts and threads assuming we already know the full story.

In 1974, Quincy Jones had an aneurysm that required two neurosurgeries, which thankfully he survived from.

He had to give up playing the trumpet for fear that the pressure from blowing through the horn would undo the staples in his brain.

There's a one-in-10 chance of survival from something like this.

Jones posted a Twitter message for Dr. Dre here.

I figured this thread would serve multiple purposes.

1. there's probably not a dre thread already

2. it is sad that he has had an aneurysm

3. it will be sadder if he passes

Fair enough, a Dre thread is a good idea, but still...the opening of this thread like this makes it seem like he passed, especially with all the big celebrity deaths 2020 brought us. A little bit of clarity wouldn't hurt, you know? Give us a little meat on them bones. ;)

Check out this tidbit with Charlie Watts where The Chronic album is mentioned here also posted below.

The Dust Brothers collaborated with The Rolling Stones on Bridges to Babylon.

Mike Simpson of the Dust Brothers (1997): Dr. Charlie

Actually, (the Stones) have been (working with loops) for years, so it's not new to them. The first day we worked with Charlie, Don Was set him up in the room at Oceanway and cranked Dr. Dre's The Chronic album through Charlie's headphones, and had him play along with the whole album. He recorded all that and they're using those as a source of loops for the various songs they're working on.
