I don't get the hype with Floyd, it just sounds like ok rock music to me. I don't even see why it's progressive. Gilmour's guitar solos are good but he can't do guitar solos all the time so what does that leave you with? Ok rock music with bored vocals.

 

I can't even listen to the Syd Barrett stuff. Ugh! "Atom Heart Mother" is a piece of shit. Even the human TIT Roger Waters thinks it crap!!!

 

I actually enjoy "Obscured By Clouds." "Meddle" of course that I have already mentioned. The CBS Pink Floyd Years are very commercial actually. "The Final Cut" should be called "The Final Butt." It's shite.

 

The GIimour Pink Floyd albums are good but I could easily fall asleep to them. Pink Floyd are Legendary. However the are boring commercial stoner rock. Snooze Fest Rock.

 

The Roger Waters solo albums are all crap too.

 

Gilmour's are better yet boring too.

The Visitors for me is their greatest achievement, but The Album is superb, and surprisingly underrated!

 

My weakness for great female fronted bands stems from my love for ABBA.

See I wasn't old school at all until about ten years ago, when I chose to buy at random Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush and Beatles albums all at roughly the same time. Before then, I was all about the more modern, post-1990 rock and metal bands. Part of my love of this forum has been having my mind blown by music of the past! I came to truly love Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Styx, Kansas, Enchant, Dream Theater, Ratt, Dokken and many others, and it's totally changed my life!

 

But I do love rock music with female vocals, metal even moreso. But most of my music collection is male fronted. It's just my thing, it's no different to how you love your bands of the eighties!

 

Just be grateful I didn't grow up a 2000s kid who thought heavy metal was all about Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and Creed like so many of my peers did!

 

And this year, Pat Benatar became a top twenty artist for me!

I got the red cover and I bought it in October 1985, I got that and Dokken's Under Lock and Key together, both US imports. The UK edition of Under Lock and Key didn't come out until March, I got that later too of course. I bought them from this place in London called Shades, mail order. And it no longer exists, it went out of business in the late 80's.

When I saw them in 1986 they seemed fine. I expected George playing with his back to the audience but he was cool and everything went down well. Don even introduced George, when it was his solo spot, as the best guitarist in the world.
