Blue Oyster Cult new album details

Just finished listening to Secret Treaties for the first time and nothing really grabbed me until the last two songs. Decent rock but nothing too special about it overall.

 

you just hit my feelings of this band overall. they're not bad at all. just super white bread.

I think their best are "Secret Treaties" and "Fire of Unknown Origin". I like a lot of their other stuff also, but it's obvious that they struggled to find their identity several times over the course of their career. They couldn't decide if they were meant to be a mainstream or underground band and some of the albums suffer quite a bit because of it.

 

They are certainly at their best when they stylistically "stuck to their guns" and threw commercialism out the window. Unfortunately, they didn't do this all that often.

Huge BOC fan here!

 

I enjoy their debut, Tyranny and Mutation, Mirrors and Imaginos the most.

 

BOC is anything but an ordinary band. Their sound and lyrics are so unique.

 

This! I can't hear anything "ordinary" about them!

 

lyrics, sense of humor, a distinctly american flavor and sense of groove... eric bloom can also do the sci-fi thing without being overwrought
