bigman208 Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 Hello everyone, here's a question for you. What is the most shocking Rush song you have ever heard on the radio? For me it either has to be La Villa Strangiato or the COMPLETE 2112.
endlesslymocking Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 Limelight used in the station identification montage.
Slacker Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 Welcome bigman i heard in the end once and almost drove off the road
pixey Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I heard Animate, Resist and a few more obscure Rush songs that are never played just last year. Actually it was very weird they had a whole hour of Rush songs on one Saturday night and they played songs you never hear on the radio. ESP since I live in SW MO. Last year too when we went and saw Rush up in St.Louis KSHE played a ton of Rush songs and alot were the more non radio songs.
cygnus147 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I was pretty shocked when I heard One Little Victory. My brother told me he heard Roll the Bones once which i thought was a little surprising.
Oberon Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 La Villa, Bastille Day... both on the same day, on CHOM-FM in Montreal, August 21st 2004... day of the show.
Slaine mac Roth Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 A couple of years ago we got Bastille Day
Slacker Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 last x-mas morning i heard Xanadu, made my whole day
ByTor2112 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 The Necromancer Was 15 years ago maybe, on Q107 by request from me weeeee
NeilPeartFan2112 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I've heard Cygnus X-1 once, and other than that it's just been the usuals.
New World Kid Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 They played Bastille Day once and then it was like the DJ forgot to take it off cuz it went right to I Think I'm Going Bald...so thats gotta be the most obscure I've heard
searchingforxanadu Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 You know, we don't have any radio stations around here that play Rush very often. I have heard Spirit of the Radio, Tom Sawyer, and Limelight each ONCE on the classic-hard-rock XM satellite station-thing. But one time I walked into a gas station and after being inside two seconds I went beserk -- it was right in the middle of the intro of The Enemy Within. I wouldn't leave until the song was over. Anyways, thought that was weird. A few months back, my very best friend (the man I intended to marry) informed me he was moving across the globe . . . I was all upset and emotional for a while and I went home and turned on the classic rock station at home, and Time Stand Still came on. That's his favorite song. I cried, 'cause I'm a sucker like that. I don't know if those two are common on the radio or not, because we have no radio stations that play them, but I didn't think they were huge Rush songs.
MrMiltonBanana Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 IK just heard Betwen the Wheels in the backround of the Station's announcements.
Cyclops Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Our local classic rock station holds a charity request drive around Thanksgiving. You call in, pay 5 bucks, 10 for long songs, and they play it. Anything, and I mean anything. So a person called in and wanted to hear Natural Science. There you go.
TNT on PMS Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I never hear any Rush on the radio . . . . So If I hear anything I'll be shocked to death !
Digital Man Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I have heard: Broons Bane Xanadu 2112 - the entire song (this station became an instant favorite of mine) For What it's Worth
Templar of Syrinx Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Vital Signs........thats one you dont hear on the radio I think it was a week or so ago......kinda suprised me because we dont often hear that on the radio..........
Cygnus27 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I have heard Q107 in Toronto play Chemistry - that was beyond shocking!
Grandpa Grizz Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I don't really listen to the radio, but I was pleasantly shocked that Rush chose Secret Touch as their second single from VT.
MrMiltonBanana Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 I heard The Trees on Sirius Satellite radio.
endlesslymocking Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 My cousin heard Roll the Bones on 97 rock....
yyzena Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I was driving around last week listening to 97 Rock here in Buffalo, and someone called in and requested 'Cinderella Man'. AND THEY ACTUALLY PLAYED IT. Like someone said earlier, I almost drove off the road in complete disbelief!! Also, sometime during summer, this same station played 'The Pass' as a 'B' side feature. Again, I was so shocked I nearly fainted. I guess there is a shred of hope for that station.
darth by tor Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 I actually dropped a plate in my Kitchen when Q104.3 played "Lessons" one Sunday morning last year!
biggoodie Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 This may be the one that beats them all... The guys at this radio station must be major RUSH fans... I heard the guys, of all places, on a TALK RADIO STATION! Rush Limbaugh is known for using RUSH songs in his bumper music.. However, I heard a commercial for his show recently that takes the cake! Here in Atlanta, Rush Limbaugh is on Newsradio 640, WGST. They recently came up with a commercial comparing and contrasting RUSH to RUSH! However, it was done in the form of an old K-Tel ad (now how much would you pay?) All of this was done over the music to Fly By Night. I'll see if I can get a tape of this promo to post on the web so all can enjoy!
