Joe Satriani my favorite of this batch.

Batch or "Satch?"

Love him.

Met him many times. Great guy. He is down to earth and "Not Of This Earth!" LOL!

We had a very deep talk about Dave Meniketti from Y&T ( another local guitar player) and Alex Lifeson. Joe Cool loves them both!

Amazing how Vai took lessons from Joe.

Joe blows Vai away.

But Al Di blows them all away.

Just get:

"Friday Night In San Francisco."

"Land Of The Midnight Sun"

"Elegant Gypsy"

"Casino"

"Splendido Hotel"

"Electric Rendezvous"

I think you're the only one who'd ever say that. :16ton: And Guthrie never went to MIT he learned everything in his own garage while working at McDonalds.

How was his quarter pounder ?!?!?

Flat 9

Paul Gilbert is great - a 10 on the shred scale, but he doesn't have the flair Yngwie does

Composition-wise, Far Beyond The Sun could stand next to most any classical violin piece ... Paul's writing is a bit sterile, don't you think ??

And that Yawn Lane guy needs to have Guthrie stop making him Whoppers and start writing some songs

I grew up listening to Al DiMeola. Great guitar player but I never considered him a shredder.

Voted Morse, but I also dig Vai, Malmsteen, Marty Friedman, John Petrucci and very underrated Vernon Reid!

I like Vernon, but I think his material is kind of one-dimensional...goes back to the mid 80s Van Halen types who try to cram as many notes into a solo as possible.
