I was really into Rising Force when it came out. I liked Marching Out and Trilogy to a lesser degree.

 

I've seen Yngwie several times - once opening for Iron Maiden on the Somewhere in Time tour, twice solo, and once in G3 (G4?)

 

I'm considering going to see him next month here.

 

If you dig Rising Force, another shred album of that era you might like is "Edge of Insanity" by Tony Macalpine. An amazing drum performance as well by none other than STEVE SMITH (getting his double kick workout!)

 

Tony's album kicks ass!!! I still can't believe he hasn't "made it big" like Vai or Satriani...

Tony's first two albums are his best, he never really produced a great album after that.

Never had any drama when I was a kid. I was very lucky!

I just had a Memorial BBQ with my awesome family last night!! My mom and dad have been married for 55 years! That's how real people respect marriage!

Not in todays fukked up society. Divorce is like a plague.

 

 

I truly understand and I'm happy you're a little better.

 

I hate divorce too. It hurts so much. I think lots of people don't marry for love anymore.

Malmsteen has got the best tone for me, along with Holdsworth. It really is a sweet amazing on the spot tone, incredible tone!. Though his music is one dimensional and gets tiring. Hes a master though, no question, someone to be seen live.

I opened for Yngwie in 1995. I met him in the dressing room. What a egotistical dick he was. When I went to shake hands he extended his has hand in a way as if he wanted me to kiss his ring. I found a way to shake his hand but man was it awkward.

 

That being said, that has nothing to do with his guitar playing ability. He's quite good.

 

He always reminded me of this character..

You and I have a serious Malmsteen connection.

 

After the show in Berkeley I raced home and looked online to buy a Malmsteen strat. I have an incredible guitar collection. I only buy guitarist models. For example I own two Alex Lifeson ES 355s. Both are mint and unplayed. My girls can sell them when I am dead.

 

Anyway I found a used Malmsteen for about 1250. I'm not in love with the yellow finish. I like the white finish instead. But I can't find one.

 

I think I mentioned this in the first post but I too was lucky many many moons ago. I saw Malmsteen at the Fillmore in SF. I too scored a pick on that fateful night.

 

What tour did you see him on in the 80's?

I didn't see Malmsteen in the 80's. My misses found the shirt online and snagged it for me. :7up:

 

I got the pick at his last Sydney concert in I think 2015. As you know, he throws and kicks them out like confetti.

 

The show finished and I didn't have a pick. Another concert goer spotted my Alcatrazz shirt and gave me one of his Malmsteen picks. That fan was a legend IMO.

 

The instant I got home my 8 year old son claimed the pick as his own
