  1. I usually skip it and Seven cities on CA.
  2. This is what I was thinking. In recent years he named 2112 as his favorite Rush album, so I think his ranking may be affected by what they have agreed to play live. Just had a wild thought.... Side 1 of 2112 plus Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures would fit in the allotted time. Boy would I give up anything else for that set list.
  3. In The Masked Rider he writes about being told he was spending his cash about six times faster than it was coming in.I think he was on his trip, but had also had given Brutus a job to help him with his legal problems and I imagine he was making use of someone to keep his property and other concerns in order. I doubt he was running low on money but you can't keep spending faster than it comes in or it will eventually dwindle.
  4. YYZ The Camera Eye Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta Vital Signs Witch Hunt Limelight
  5. The above set list for the Signals tour is correct but the encore was YYZ with the drum solo. The medley was at the end of the main set.
  6. I like it but in a whimsical way.
  7. In the lower third of Rush albums for me but if the production were good it might have made the middle third.

    Prime Mover

I like Prime Mover on the album but thought it was weak live on the ASOH video and would take Open Secrets or Turn The Page or Lock and Key ahead of it.
  9. If I recall correctly, there were quite a few membership changes in JR Flood. Former members also went on to form Saga and Goddo.
  10. Yes if they get Jon Anderson back. Genesis if they do more than the 80s hits. Let Chester Thompson drum and Phil can sing or Phil and Peter if they choose. Pink Floyd if Roger Waters is there. Supertramp if Roger Hodgson is there. There are other bands that I would see if convenient and at the right price but no must see.
  11. I would love to meet any of the three but to tell you the truth I don't know what I would say. I think most fans are in a state of awe and want to talk or get to know because they are either curious about the celebrity or they want the status of the famous friend. I think that for Neil or the others to make a new friend, either the person has to be unaware of who they have just met, or there has to be a different reason for time to be spent together such that the awestruck fandom can wear off or the other person is also famous. Why do famous people so often date and marry other famous people? They can get to know each other without feeling a huge imbalance in the relationship.
  12. I take most claims about vinyl sounding better with a grain of salt. I considered myself an audiophile and bought a pretty good Thorens turntable in 1984, the same year I bought my first CD player. Playing a record was like a ritual, cleaning the stylus, the record, and I had a static gun. When I first compared CDs and records, I found that sometimes the CD sounded better and sometimes the record sounded better. The CDs tended to have lower noise and often more dynamic range. Sometimes they sounded thin, but since this was not always the case, it cannot be caused by the digital medium but must be a result of different mastering choices. I tend towards the science of sound. Early tests with music being converted to digital and back showed that most people could not identify the effect of 16 bit digital encoding (the CD standard). Later tests suggested that under the right conditions, some people can identify 16 bit digital but cannot distinguish any differences in 20 bit digital. Most high res is 24 bit. On balance, I will take CDs for a larger practical dynamic range (any records with a larger dynamic range than the CD counterpart are a result of mastering choices), a lower noise floor, no wow or rumble, and no deterioration in sound from degrading vinyl and a worn stylus. I would like to know what people are referring to as separation? Channel separation is far superior on a CD, being absolute in the digital domain and degrading somewhat in the amplification, depending on your equipment, but that would also affect records. I would like most CDs to be released as dual layer products, readable by a CD player or DVD player in 24 bit. I would like bands to leave space around instruments and not compress much. Since radio play seems not to matter for older bands, why make it so loud. It is fine to set the peaks to 0 if you adjust everything linearly without compressing. This actually provides the best signal to noise ratio, but let quiet songs be quiet. I resist downloads. I like having a physical product that I don't have to worry about backing up. I still have my turntable and about 300 records. I have converted many to digital and written them to CD. I miss the ritual of the records but don't really have a desire to buy any more vinyl.
  13. Some arenas or police charge more if the shoiw runs later.
  14. Am I the only one who thought Prime Mover was the weakest HYF tune live? Of thosecthat were played live.
  15. They have often booked one leg, then announced that they are feeling great and playing great and they add a leg. Then before the next they lament the toll it takes. If I were to predict I think they will extend this tour a bit and that there will be more live shows in next 2 years following an album but either shorter shows or shorter tour.
  16. They could find ways of playing live if they wanted to. Bring family to a base and play a bunch of shows over 2-3 weeks. Then have break and move base. Do smaller venues and cut down expenses. They would not make huge profits but would still be working musicians. No complaints if they want to stop but much time away from family is not really necessary. They could probably do a Billy Joel type monthly show at 2 or 3 arenas around North America for years if they wanted. Big concentrated tours can go but there are ways to play without big cost.
  17. I thought I had read that MSG charges a big fee to shoot a video there so likely not there.
  18. Saw every tour since 1981 when I was 15. Mostly in Toronto but also Ottawa once and Montreal twice.
  19. The 5.1 audio is unlistenable because they added the sound of the band with a fake delay that is distracting. The drums were poorly mic'd or mixed and you can't hear the toms much of the time. An exciting document with lots of energy but the sound and playing is better technically on R30 and Snakes live.
  20. Would not hate it if Yes opened or Saga or various other prog bands but prefer not to lose Rush time unless they are going to shorten their stage time regardless.
  21. They always have compressors or limiters in use at live shows because it lessens the chances of feedback and blown speakers or amplifiers. I have found the sound can be horrible one night and excellent the next. Not sure why.
  22. The guitar tone always bothered me on La Villa on ASOH and the fact that he didn't use the pedal in the solo.
  23. You have the exact same bottom three as me from the last few tours.
