  1. You know, Dave Matthews is a fantastic gtr player. That being said, I really do not like his music. I am intrigued by how he continues to be a draw on the jam band/college kid circuit even though DMB is as much of a jam band as the Carpenters were. Every time e he starts to yodel and twitch, I turn the dial or leave the room. Also, I found myself at a DMB concert with an ex (not the reason she became my ex) and it was very boring.
  2. 35? Man I feel old. Wasn't 1985 just the other day? Gonna give this one a spin later.
  3. Yes, HYF was my last GA show. Everything since has been seating. At my age I do not miss GA but I was close my fist couple of shows
  4. While I think it is a better album than the previous six albums it is no where near as good as Moving Pictures...imho
  5. When I was 17 or so, my best friend and I found his old Big Wheel in his basement. We did what any highly intelligent, responsible beings would be expected to do: we drenched it in lighter fluid, set it alight and rolled it down the hill at the end of his driveway. It veered off into the neighbor's lawn where it melted into a puddle of smoking plastic and toxic fumes, while Jim & I convulsed in helpless laughter. Someone should have given this same treatment to the song: set the lyrics on fire before studio time was ever booked. Still, it's light years better than "Neurotica". This is a great visual and an accurate assessment of the song...
  6. The classic rock station I my hometown regularly plays Limelight, Fly By Night, and Closer to the Heart. Daily at least one of them. At night I once heard Cygnus X-1 (wee hours). Locally owned station. Manager must be a fan.
  7. Yeah that would be nice. Only problem I have with it is the bass tone kinda sucks, but then the Steinberger was more for it's streamlined shape rather than it's sound. I agree. Having owned one in the past (see avatar) I agree with the dull sound of the Steinberger. Well balanced and easy to play, but not the best sound.
  8. I really don't like this song or most of Roll the Bones. Ghost of a Chance seemed like it was trying to be two different songs, neither of which I liked. The Big Wheel and GOAC should remain tucked away on this record. Every ten years I give this LP a spin, the latest being this past summer. My least favorite collection of Rush songs.
  9. My only problem with this fantastic DVD is that it is only part of the show. I wish they would put the 80s stuff out as complete shows.
  10. I enjoyed it. I like it better than 3 as well. Maybe it's because of Winona Ryder. I always liked her. Still enjoy the first one every time I watch it.
  11. Blue Oyster Cult Tyranny and Mutation Secret Treaties
  12. Listened to Kinda Kinks today. Great record
  13. I always marveled at how the first song of each live album was the first song off the third album in the series... Bastille Day The Spirit of Radio The Big Money Dreamline For that reason I was always waiting for Animate to open the show. I still think that would be a great opener.
  14. The first rumor of farewell tour I heard was Grace Under Pressure. That was also not far in time from the "Neil has cancer" rumors. This was when there were no interwebz. For me, Finale is the obvious choice, but I wouldnt mind In The Mood. I remember those rumors...pre interwebz indeed.
  15. A good friend of mine saw the Signals tour and last year his daughter wore his tour shirt to school (she was one of my students). It was a faded 3 quarter sleeve. Listening to him talk all those years almost gave me memories of the show. He did say that they played Chemistry at the show he saw.
  16. I can play bits and pieces of all of the ones I've tried. Though I can play yyz on the bass, I lack the stamina to get through the whole thing. If I could choose something it would be to play the gtr solo in La Villa Strangiato with the same emotion Lifeson does it with.
  17. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/joshdies/films-seven.jpg Brad Pitt? Indeed. A young Brad Pitt. Morgan Freeman, Gwenyth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey as well.
  18. Great film. Watch it every year but missed it this year
  19. I voted for Hemispheres a couple of years ago but sometimes it is Signals
