  1. Earl buddy, I didn't catch this before but Cultosauras Erectus was between those two albums but I appreciate the BOC support. I recently saw them in Las Vegas on the day before Labor Day. I like Mirrors but it doesn't always get the love that some of the others do.
  2. I'd go see the Lee-Lifeson project if the other two still wanted to play.
  3. Attaboy Earl for representing BOC. I'll add a few non-Rush items but I'm too tired to make an extended list. BOC - Secret Treaties / Agents of Fortune Yes - Fragile / Close to the Edge Genesis - Foxtrot / Selling England and The Lamb Lies Down / Trick of the Tail Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell / Mob Rules Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic / Rocks Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon / Wish You Were Here Bruce Springsteen - What's My Appeal? / Can't Sing a Lick
  4. I wouldn't say "given," my last few Rush concert tickets have been rather expensive :D As to the thread question, a new younger singer will never happen. I do agree that Ged's voice is getting worse, I can't imagine them even doing two more tours. And while I'm complaining, they should drop the intro/outro videos, they haven't been funny or entertaining in any way since Jerry Stiller was in them. Leave comedy to the professionals! Jerry Stiller isn't funny. And if Rush ever passed the lead singer baton to someone else, I wouldn't bother. Of course I ditched Marillion after Fish left, too. Moot point anyway since the band have said themselves - several times - that if one retires then Rush is done. Jerry Stiller isn't funny? Actually, that makes you funny for saying that. It's okay, not all people understand comedy. Do you have a website where you review comedy TV shows and comedy movies? If so, then I would like to visit it so I know that I can choose the opposite of whatever you recommend.
  5. I think that "Feel the sun up in your ass" would also work. I'm drawing a blank on what song "lemony cake" is referring to. "There's no bread Lemony cake" Ring a bell? Thanks, I didn't make the Bastille Day connection at first.
  6. I think that "Feel the sun up in your ass" would also work. I'm drawing a blank on what song "lemony cake" is referring to.
  7. I thought that I was the only person in the world who feels the way you do about "Available Light". I try to listen to it about every five years. It starts out promising and then it hits "In the available light" which makes me hit skip immediately. I always make sure there isn't anything sharp around me to puncture my eardrum at that part. You could force me to hear any song of your choice from the early years and I would gladly listen to it 1000 times in a row (might need a sleep break) rather than listen to Available Light once. That includes "I think I'm Going Bald".
  8. I can't agree more with your comment about "it is what it is" and I cringed every time that lyric was about to be sung in concert. As clever as Neil usually is with his lyrical content, I'm surprised that he would stoop to modern day simplistic speak for people that have difficulty forming a coherent thought. Just utter that nonsense and you don't have to ever explain what you mean. I would really like this song if it wasn't for that phrase.
  9. That's funny because I always refer to the boy as Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara's son.
  10. Good post. As Billy Corgan said: "At the end of the day, rock is a people's game, and the people have consistently and overwhelmingly voted for this band." True! The winners can't always be decided by "five guys in a back room"; the people should be allowed to speak. And they do, and have! And as NPR pointed out yesterday, the whole nominating process is completely secretive and NON-transparent; they don't want the public to know how they make their decisions. One former member of the Nominating Committee blew the whistle on the committee and its decision-making practices: he said that one year the committee was upset that the first draft of potential nominees were all "small name acts" and no artist would draw people into buying tickets to their money-making induction dinner. In that case, money in their pockets was more important than musical merit in deciding who to nominate. ("We need a big name act!") Another year, Wenner inducted Grandmaster Flash instead of the Dave Clark Five, on the technicality that some Dave Clark Five votes came in after a "deadline." In truth, Wenner had said to the committee "we can't go another year without inducting a rap act." So he was predisposed to inducting Grandmaster Flash, is what it came down to. Oh yeah, and about that comment that Geddy's voice alone should disqualify them: I bet that music critic never said the same thing about Bob Dylan, Neil Young, or Michael Stipe (R.E.M.), none of whom have good voices! Please add Janis Joplin to that list in your last sentence. She sounded like a cat that was either being strangled or banged by someone.
  11. Does it have to be a musician? How about Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis as Bob and Doug Mckenzie?
  12. Should be played in Houston, yes. It was played in Houston.
  13. That is incorrect. Limelight was played in Houston.
  14. Well done Steevo! It's outstanding. It's too bad that the hurricane inteferred with the 40th anniversary show last week. They are playing again on Monday, 11/5. I really wish that I could attend since Albert, Joe, and Allen are all supposed to appear as special guests.
  15. QUOTE (LittleRed @ Sep 19 2012, 07:20 PM) I was a tad frustrated with the couple behind me who talked loudly through a few songs at the beginning. And the guy in front of me kept getting up to go get beer. To me, why would you want to miss a second talking or going for beer? An alcoholic cares more about his or her beer than the greatness of Rush. A non-alcoholic Rush fan is more likely to get his or beer before the show and at intermission so none of the show will be missed.
  16. QUOTE (default236 @ Sep 10 2012, 08:03 AM) QUOTE (Kubla~Khan @ Sep 9 2012, 05:49 PM) B- Nov 23: Las Vegas, NV - MGM Grand Garden Arena Huzzah!!! I hope you don't feel cornholed by getting the other set but it looks like the newly added show in San Diego will affect you.
  17. QUOTE (zac2112 @ Sep 9 2012, 07:36 PM) QUOTE (ZachenFoot @ Sep 9 2012, 07:18 PM) I think it's miles ahead of the TMT setlist. Wow. I remember wanting to go in surprised since I was the fourth stop of the tour. Big mistake; Moving Pictures saved that show, but the entire first set was so bland and uninteresting to me, save Marathon. I like everything about this set save for a couple minor shortcomings, but hey, it'll never be perfect. couldnt disagree with your analysis more, liked the TM set list very much, good variety, different eras etc. But its what a fan forum is all about, discussions, debates its all good. I think its fine if someone wants to come on here and say CA set sucks! in fact i tend to agree but im still going to go, ill still have a blast, and hope i leave the show feeling differently! Hell ill still burn one with the nerds who think power windows is good Rush! Well maybe I agree with zac2112. I thoroughly enjoyed Time Stand Still and Presto which are two of my favorites from the 80's. That doesn't mean I am criticizng this set list at all. Also, there is a 50% chance of someone not getting The Spirit of Radio which is sad.
  18. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Sep 9 2012, 10:35 PM) QUOTE (Powderfinger @ Sep 9 2012, 10:15 PM) QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Sep 9 2012, 10:06 PM) I am torn. Why oh why would they replace Carnies of all songs?!?! Of the changes I prefer: The Body Electric to Middletown Dreams (A) Bravado to The Pass (A) Dreamline to Manhattan Project setlist b Carnies to Seven Cities (A) 2112 to Spirit setlist b The best change is Dreamline and 2112, so I'd probably prefer B By the way, what the hell happened to Limelight? That's so weird that it would be scratched out. I can't believe they're not playing it. It's their best IMO Yes, I'm really surprised they didn't just leave Limelight in the setlist A encore. The TS/2112 encore is several minutes longer than the TS/TSoR encore. Why not put Limelight in encore A to make it a comparable length? Well, someone mentioned they scratched Limelight because the show started late. Maybe Setlist A is Limelight and TSOR and setlist B is 2112. So maybe next show we'll see Limelight back in...? I like the way you think.

The TS/2112 encore is several minutes longer than the TS/TSoR encore. Why not put Limelight in encore A to make it a comparable length? There are many strange decisions being made as you pointed out. Why did they drop Limelight from the encore? Why didn't they include Losing it or Nobody's Hero on this Tour? Why not Change out Wish Them Well instead of Carnies? Why not drop Wokring Man and Replace with 2112/Temples/Finale and leave the encore as is? There are gems on both set list. Those of us that are only able to attend one show will feel cheated somehow either way. 1. Time constraints? They got bored of playing it? 2. Thematically neither align well with the tour. Losing It is a bit of a downer song, at this point in their career I don't think they are interested in playing it. It may never get played. 3. Maybe they like Wish Them Well more? This one is the most confusing for me. 4. They LOVE Working Man. No other reason. That makes sense but I don't think The Pass is a golden ray of sunshine either in comparison to Losing It.
  20. I think both sets are nice but I think it's a bit criminal not to play TSOR. It's hard to imagine any set without that song. People may be tired of it but I still find it very exciting and rejuvenating. My feelings would not have been hurt if they dropped TS for the TSOR but I guess they have to play TS. I thought the same thing about TSOR but I am now proven to be wrong. Two of my shows are back to back so I should see both so I'll get to hear TSOR at least once.
  21. QUOTE (DBJetsman @ Sep 8 2012, 10:48 AM) Where's my Thing is awesome! I'm excited to hear that one. I'm still confused why they're playing 4 songs from such a mediocre album (PoW) and they're not playing Marathon. I hope they play the leaked setlist since there were 6 songs I would've loved to hear from it.... I am only speculating but it may have to do with Marathon being played on the last tour.
  22. QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Sep 8 2012, 04:12 PM) QUOTE (Todem @ Sep 8 2012, 04:42 AM) QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Sep 8 2012, 07:40 AM) Paging ReflectedLight and all the other haters, who hate everything Rush post-1981 no matter what It is going to be a troll fest around here for months. What makes who a troll has broadened so much in the past few years. A troll used to be, for example, someone who anonymously harassed the relatives of one who just passed away. Then it changed to a troll simply being someone who's a little prankster, or someone who's pulling your leg. Now, a troll can be defined as someone who disagrees with you. Just an observation from the perspective of another internet user. Always makes me cringe when people apply "troll" to the lightest of things, when it used to be the opposite. I agree and I think that "hater" is overused in the exact same way. Someone could say that they loved every Rush song except "I think I'm Going Bald" and someone would interpret that as a "hater".
  23. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Sep 8 2012, 01:54 AM) Counterparts is probably the closest tour in terms of unusual sets. Hemispheres Prelude instead of anything from 2112, The Analog Kid instead of Subdivisions, no Freewill, nothing from GUP, Mystic Rhythms instead of The Big Money, etc. When you factor in that was the last of the "shorter" 2 hour shows and the fact that of the 22 songs 9 were basically new (either Counterparts or Roll the Bones) it seemed like a fairly radical change to me. But there were still far more standards than this tour. Red Sector A is from GUP.
  24. QUOTE (losingit2k @ May 14 2012, 09:46 PM) QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ May 14 2012, 08:01 PM) Love the song. I wouldn't complain if they played it live! I don't think anyone would complain, I think they will be alot of people glancing around at each other thinking "OMG, No Way, I can't believe they are playing this.....Cool!" I wouldn't complain because there is about a 90% that I would sell my tickets if I found out that annoying drivel was on the set list. I could probably hide in the restroom for that time period when I knew it was coming up so there is a 10% that I would still go. This is the ONLY Rush song where I can say that Geddy's voice makes me want to drive a Phillips head right into my eardrum at the "Availble light" part. I would rather hear "I think I'm going bald" twenty times in a row live than hear "Available Light" once. I try to listen to this song once every five years or so but I can't make it all the way through although the intro is okay. While it's not a certainty, I think the probability is very high that it won't be played.
  25. QUOTE (Tick @ May 5 2012, 07:18 AM) Can I also say in this thread. Floor seats are over rated big time. A nice low level section seat close to the stage is better than 15th to 20th row on the floor, imo. If I need to take a bathroom or beer break its so much easier if I'm close to the isle in a section. That's just me. I would take 15th row if I pulled it, but I would probably pass on 20th and beyond. Its not that great a seat being level with everyone else, and trying to see perfectly. It can be a nuisance. I agree with Tick's philosophy (except that I am not interested in beer runs). For one of my shows which is LV, I have an aisle seat on Row B not too far from the stage. This is more comfortable for me since I can sit as much as I want and still be able to see clearly. I will take a shot at a good floor seat but those are much harder to find these days. I think the back of the floor is a ripoff if the cost is the same as the front. With the nice screens, a lower priced ticket on the aisle works for me. Also, I am 6'4" and I feel a bit self-conscience about blocking someone's view especially the delightful Kelly D. Speaking of Kelly D, I am only one person but I also don't invest in VIP tickets. I might spend extra on Stubhub if needed.
