  1. I'd much rather hear classic songs that haven't been played in years, rather than than never played tunes, like the ones on the rush petition site. Just hoping for a great retrospective show- sans anything like the feedback crap (IMO) we had to ensure on R30. Would also be nice to see the silly videos jettisoned this time around. Just play it straight like the old days!
  2. Totally get the sentiment -- I first saw them at the Garden in NY in 1982, and just got tickets for this June. Great stuff.
  3. Dont think theyll be a full second leg, but can see them going to the markets left out in this leg. Also think this will be the last proper tour for them. Perhaps some festivals and such but thats it.
  4. I had one great experience -- got 8th row in front of Alex on the SA tour through the fan presale. But by and large, I've gotten average seats on most presales I've done -- rush, maiden, etc. Hopefully that changes tmrw.
  5. I've heard folks say good things about that album, as well as Bananas. I should give them a fair shake.
  6. Some random DT comments, some based on the above: I really think they should have played Scenes in its entirety last tour. The Awake deep cuts really ruined the setlist for me. The ADOTE tour was far better IMO. Speaking of - ADTOE is a tremendous album -- they seemed to really place a priority on melodies, and the songs are their best since Scenes, IMO. It's in my top 3 all time by them (along with Scenes and I/W). Respect Rudess, but as has been said, his playing tends to go overboard... There are times I wish theyd scale back the keys -- there doesnt have to be a keyboard solo for every guitar solo. Often makes for a noisy mess. Not tasteful.
  7. Love Tull. If you're a true newbie, than MU is a nice overview of the hits. As for albums to start with I recommend the following to listen to, in order. There are other incredible albums (ie A Passion Play), but these are the ones Id start with as you delve in. (this is by no means my personal ranking). 1)Aqualung - top to bottom fantastic. 2)Bursting Out -- classic live album, good overview, with condensed versions of longer classic tunes (ie Brick and Minstrel). 3)Thick as a Brick -- by this time youll be ready for this. 4)Benefit -- great early tull 5)Songs from the Wood 6)Stand Up - bluesy Tull -- Nothing is Easy! 7)Crest of a Knave -- a very solid "modern" Tull album. 8)Heavy Horses
  8. Their albums are very highly ranked on the ProgArchives site. Listened to some of their stuff, but couldnt get into the singer's voice.
  9. Really like Rainbow. The Dio years clearly dominate. Some of the Bonnet stuff is pretty good. Joe Lynn Turner is god awful.
  10. Great album, no question. Prefer the Coverdale era over the Gillian lineup. But both great. Never got into the current incarnation with Morse.
  11. 100% in line with what Captain Avatar said.
  12. ^^^^^ Actually listened to Images and Words last night for the first time in a while. Forgot how truly great it is. And Moore's work is indeed tasteful. I do think Rudess goes over board some times, to the detriment of the song.
  13. Great band. Wish theyd tour the States more often.
  14. You just broke my "METAL HEART!" LOL! HA! I like "Fast as a Shark" as much as anyone but theyre just not an elite band, imho.
  15. Not a huge fan of S/A, but its much better song for song, and much more listenable than Clockwork, IMHO.
  16. Loved Joshua Tree and Achtung in high school, like most everyone else. Now (and for the last couple decades or so) I find them intolerable. Prob my least favorite of the mega bands.
  17. Used to love representing with my tour shirt the next day in school. Good times.
  18. One of the most overrated bands of all time. Will stipulate that Appetite is a very good album, but not top 10. perhaps top 20.
  19. Scorpions of course. On a whole other level than Accept, a middle-tier metal band.
