  1. I'd love to see them bring that one back along with tunes like What You're Doing, Something For Nothing, and the like; not because they're my favorites but because of being born in '89 and not seeing Rush until 2007, I missed SO f***ing much that I'd love to just get a taste of a Rush show before I was born. The Replay box was awesome, but seeing all that stuff live would be so amazing. Plus, my first Rush album was Exit... Stage Left. So yeah, catching a glimpse of those older tours would be amazing. That's part of the reason the first set of this CA tour was so delightful for me (that and the fact that Power Windows is always in the running for my favorite Rush album).
  2. I think a lot of us just consider it to be a bit of an effectual piece of the album, not a song. I don't even have it on my ipod: only listen to it when I'm playing CA as a whole disc. Sure, if it tried to stand alone as a tune, it would be at the bottom of my list of all Rush songs... Including Dog Years. On a related note, I sorted the Rush studio albums by play count on my ipod earlier, and coming in last place was Take A Friend, followed by I Think I'm Going Bald. It's not really accurate because I like to play the discs in the car because my ipod radio transmitter sucks a weiner, listen to the vinyls (through HYF... don't have Presto-CA), and I sometimes leave the ipod running on an album or playlist all day.
  3. Wow. What an ignoramus. Yep. But he did inspire me to listen to the first album while I was stuck in traffic earlier, so that was cool. Haven't listened to it in forever, and really enjoyed Before and After. Fun album, but thank everything holy for Neil.
  4. This is pretty much how I feel, but I really enjoyed WTW live. I can "feel" it more when I listen to it on the album now, the same way seeing The Main Monkey Business changed for me in 07.
  5. With my uncle and his kid (6th grade and at his 3rd Rush show!) before the Dallas show!!! His friend's wife knew someone who works at AAC, and they got us in the platinum level (mediocre seats, but a nice bathroom and bigger bar) for 40 bucks each. Can't wait for the DVD!!! http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/378790_4595416376512_235438221_n.jpg
  6. My uncle and I have been hoping that there would be a Trailer Park Boys video. I tweeted to Bubbles asking if there was a chance of that happening... maybe he'll see it!
  7. The guy next to me last night was having a really bad night. He wasn't very old (maybe in his 40's) but got pissed when they started Territories, saying "oh another f*ckin new one." Went downhill from there. He ended up sitting and complaining with his friend the rest of the first set, then they were making snide comments about me (mostly because of my age) during intermission... then came the part where he pulled out his iphone and decided to let me in on the great secret of hearing Freewill and Working Man, like he just blew my mind. Anyway, the guy was such a dick during the first set & intermission that I was kind of happy about having the farts during the second set, during which time he continued to sit and chat with his friend. Red Sector A came around, and he told his friend they were playing Subdivisions. After screaming out the wrong words to the first part of Tom Sawyer, he stopped, tried again, but ended up just doing that "I don't know the words but I'm gonna make noise anyway" thing. As soon as the house lights came back on, he screamed "This is bullshit! What about Working Man!" So yeah, he had an expensive, bad night... and because he was such a dick, I really hope my farts were extra stinky down there.
  8. You wrote all that for free? You should come write for the San Antonio Express News- they had the lamest review EVER of the show here last night and could use someone who gives a damn! That said, you lost me in the 4th paragraph, not because of your objections to Counterparts and RTB (though I do love them), but your word choice made you come across as a self-professed expert with an inflated ego. Not saying you are, just that the wording was a little... strong, maybe? It sounds like you're saying that those of us who like every Rush record only do so because we're incapable of listening to them objectively. Kind of a dick move.
  9. He definitely smiled a big professorial smile in that first set. It was a thing of beauty.
  10. This is my favorite movie idea ever.
  11. Nice! Haven't ever seen Chain Lightning referenced on a tat... that's really, really cool.
  12. Loved Subdivisions as an opener, but TSoR hits just a bit harder to start. That said, I like TSoR best as a closer because it's my favorite of the staples.
  13. Love this song. Makes me feel better about the night I became a man.
  14. All the Texas shows are during the middle of the week :( DAMN! My show is the sixth show in a seven day run for them. The way I see it is, if a bunch of 50 year old guys can do that grueling tour schedule then I sure as hell can make make it to my closest show. Fair point. Just makes the next day at work a giant suckfest after that post-concert drive home (which isn't really too bad coming from Austin to SA, but those other 2... f**k that. Already took Wed & Thurs off so I can get to Dallas and back for Rush)
  15. All the Texas shows are during the middle of the week :( DAMN!
  16. Why not? It's an interesting thread! Geez! Oh, I'm not denying that! I love seeing these old threads pop back up! Just joking that the TRF-ers' ability to revive these things after so many years would be effective in a hospital. No anger/hate/anything negative meant, I promise.
  17. And don't forget to ride your horses to AAC while wearing cowboy hats and six shooters! Let's make this a special DVD.
  18. If they're still swapping Dreamline in (haven't checked recent sets), I'd rather see that go in favor of Losing It!
  19. This thread was dead for 7 years and was resurrected. Why aren't TRF members all working in hospitals?
  20. Saw Ghost with Opeth & Mastodon. The can groove, but sweet f**k are they nuts! Like going to church on halloween or something.
  21. So sorry to hear that :( We'll raise a glass for her tonight
  22. Not in 1976.. :P True, but by 1983 or so it was. I like it, but I discovered this album in the 80s. The first 3 held up better in the logo department. Love the original 2112 art, but damn if Caress of Steel doesn't have some awesome art!
  23. Looks like all the ones I was going to mention have been covered except the really fresh release of Octane Twisted. It's amazing!
