  1. QUOTE (Ovningskora @ Jun 8 2012, 06:08 AM) After two years of listening I have decided that "Please Come Home... Mr. Bulbous" is without a doubt the best album I've ever heard. Unique & abstract greatness from front to back. "Bulbous" is so trippy and bizarre (in a good way)...great vocals/harmonies by Ty and Dug...no doubt it's my favorite King's X album...and I own 'em all. My only minor complaint is that it seems a song or two short as an album. That said, "Move Me" is probably my favorite all time King's X song.
  2. I dig Living Colour also...although I kind of lost track of them after the "Stain" album. I get reminded about them all the time as "Cult of Personality" is CM Punk's enterence music (WWE wrestling).
  3. I'm totally going to be "that guy"...I'm wearing it to the show, and anywhere else I damn well please. Stupid rule.
  4. QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 26 2012, 09:10 AM) QUOTE (robertrobyn @ Jun 23 2012, 12:23 AM) Im so so glad I bought the fan pack. The 132 page magazine is outstanding. Plus I like the hard case bood cd better than the regular store cd. The packaging of the fanpack CD is worlds better than the usual digipak. Absolutely. I'm very impressed with the glossy hard cover book like cd package. Much better quality than your average digipak that can get pretty dinged up over time. No band pic included for some reason, but that's the only minor downside. I'm guessing because it's the magazine cover.
  5. I didn't fully unfold the poster, but I found my name without doing so. Eric Erickson here...
  6. QUOTE (canadianice @ Jun 22 2012, 09:54 PM) sorry bout your luck bro, snooze ya loose Yep, you gotta jump on things like this...had a feeling this would be a limited offering.
  7. Wow... I've been on somewhat of a Queensryche binge lately...rediscovering some of their catalog, and listening to some other material for the first time. Not sure what to think of the band going forward...
  8. QUOTE (Flying Finn @ Jun 20 2012, 01:52 PM) the first 4 > the last 4 But the first 3 vs. the last 3... can't really say. Now this changes everything...add 2112, old rush ---> shoot to the moon... add T4E, new rush <---- sink like a stone.
  9. I know it would probably be out of place in any set list, but I'm a fan of Carve away the Stone, so I threw it a vote That said, with this set list bound to be very CA heavy...doubt anything from t4e makes the cut.
  10. The Anarchist is a song that took a few listens just for me to absorb. Now it gets better and better each listen...so at this point I could certainly see it as a top 25 candidate for me. For whatever reason, it feels like something off of "Grace under Pressure"...just the feel of it.
  11. The great thing for me is that I'm really trying to limit myself a bit on the number of listens, and I do crave more...so obviously this album is connecting with me in a big way. I was getting a bit concerned with the early released tracks. Songs like Caravan and Headlong Flight are solid, but after a few listens, I'm good for a while. Other tracks are calling out to me...can't seem to get enough.
  12. Or...you could listen to...maybe... 2112 instead??
  13. Love it all, but I mostly lean toward the modern Rush era. Especially since we're only including first 3 albums.
  14. 1. The Spirit of Radio 2. Natural Science 3. Limelight 4. Dreamline 5. Earthshine 6. The Pass 7. Cygnus X-1 Book II 8. The Weapon 9. Armor & Sword 10. Clockwork Angels (tenative...but it's that good) p.s. Nice to see Chemistry get some love...It ranks very high for me also.
  15. I love modern Rush, so I listen to these 3 albums plenty. Fan of them all. S&A and CA I LOVE...Vapor Trails is more in the decent/good relm.

    1 week out

Pre-release I'd listen to the original Caravan/BU2B multiple times, but not enough to burnout on them...bought the single (kept sealed), downloaded from Amazon. Downloaded Headlong Flight from Amazon. Listened to it maybe 5-10 times. Quality song, but didn't draw me in enough to keep playing it. Gave in and streamed title track when it became available legit online...Loved it, but forced myself to only 2 full listens to keep the release day "juice". 30 sec. samples? yes. Got fanpack last Monday. One full listen on headphones...looking for time this week for more listens. Played full album a few times on my computer with decent speakers, but I've mostly cherry picked tracks to listen to depending on mood. Trying to limit myself to keep this album fresh!
  17. I remember the first time I heard Armor & Sword...it was instant goose bump inducing. (Lyrics and all) Loved the methodical, plodding heaviness of it. Still holds up to this day. From the last 3 albums, I consider Earthshine, A&S, and CA easily the monster tracks.
  18. I made a album ranking about a year or so ago. The new album needs time, not necessarily just number of listens for me to rank it...but I'm comfortable saying it's certainly top 10 for me. I have Permanent Waves and Signals locked solid as my 1-2.
  19. I remember seeing a commercial on cable (for "Different stages' I believe)week of it's release.
  20. QUOTE I like the red in it, but overall it doesnt do anything for me. The alchemy thing has been done by so many bands before so the cover itself seems a little lazy to me For whatever reason, no other example of a band using alchemy (theme, art) comes to mind for me.... Can anyone list some examples? BTW, I'm a little underwhelmed by the cover in general. I like the symbols in clock form, along with the title font. The simple background red swirl doesn't do much for me.
  21. Hell yes! Love it. Seven Cities is Rush in "Beast Mode". My 2nd fav. after the title track.
  22. I agree that it's such a nice change of pace at that point of the album. Just straight forward...great melody...powerful lyrics. Easy top 5 on the album. But Carve away the Stone being one of my favorites off T4E would be a tip off that i'd dig this one.
  23. After a few full listens... 1. Clockwork Angels 2. Seven cities of Gold 3. The Garden 4. The Anarchist (took a while for me to absorb, but a fast riser)
  24. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Jun 13 2012, 12:22 PM) I've been so busy listening that I haven't even bothered to look at the liner notes yet! This I'm taking my sweet time to take everything in...music, fan pack, art.
