QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 11 2007, 07:59 PM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 11 2007, 08:54 AM) QUOTE (Necromancer @ Mar 11 2007, 08:25 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 11 2007, 10:37 AM) Besides, if a vote was for WORLD president, wouldn't the whole world have to vote? I would think that someone's balls wouldn't really be in the running if that was the case. It's called SURREALISM Goobs. Ever hear of it? Oh, i forgot... only YOU have that market cornered, right? So this whole president thing was just a joke as long as you had no competition? Now it's not funny right? Now we get to here your diatribe about the state of the world and shit like that? Too bad, cuz Tick and Mort and JB had me in stitches until JEALOUSY reared it's ugly head. blah, blah, blah... help me everyone, i'm jealous of johnny blaze's balls! I'd be pretty upset if I was losing a popularity contest to a sweaty nutsack, too!

QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 11 2007, 06:21 PM) I never thought about really running for president of the WORLD, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. if i really could be world president and i actually had the power where people really listened to me, this world would be a lot more of a peaceful, harmonious place than it is now. You would be assasinated as soon as you stepped foot outside.

QUOTE (Dread Pirate Robert @ Mar 10 2007, 03:37 AM) Even if proposition 1) -- that "most alcoholics" have this sort of reaction -- is true, it does NOT logically follow that ALL or MOST people who have this sort of reaction are therefore alcoholics. I think I saw this on the SAT

I almost try to watch this, but figure it might be gross in some spots. And I wouldn't be able to eat a Big Mac again! (Or any type of meat.) I truly don't see what the big fuss is over 'Supersize Me'. I mean, the guy ate nothing but McDonald's food for (I think) three months and he got fat, yet people are surprised by this?! Umm, guys, didn't we already know that would happen? Born into Brothels beat it out for the Oscar for a good reason. Now that sounds like my kind of flick!

QUOTE (Asian Rush Fan @ Feb 26 2007, 11:26 PM) So your old man isn't paying alimony? Whose fault is that? Oh you didn't accept it? Again who was it that married the bum? Blame the man, blame the man! Learn responsibility and see how he is before you get married, divorced and have your credit wiped out. With the new bankruptcy laws the Republicans created, you can't. Oh and child support? No need for it? You need it and the guy need to pay his share? Next time don't open your legs. And if you must there are 11 forms of birth control for women including abortion and one for men. If you don't like what may be dealt, close your legs and we'll go to the next woman Dude, get some counseling.

QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Jan 7 2007, 04:00 AM) Typical, I go on holiday for a week and a Lizzy thread is started while I'm gone. I was lucky enough to see them live three times - Slane Castle 1981 (with U2 as support act) and the two farewell Irish dates in Dublin in 1983. I was also at the 10th anniversary 'Vibe for Philo' in 1996 which marked the first time Downey / Gorham / Sykes / Wharton reunited on stage. Eric Bell played a storming set of early stuff with his band as well. I wrote about an aspect of it HERE in the "Live show mistakes" thread. Coincidentally Riv, you get a mention by association in this one. I was lucky enough to meet Phil once, in 1984. he was playing in Waterford with the short lived band 'Grand Slam', I was at the venue with a DJ friend picking up some equipment, the band were soundchecking with a version of 'A White Shade Of Pale', Phil came down and asked our opinion of the sound!!!!!. That's awesome, Madra!

Well a small search has turned up some soldiers involved. I still say it's bullshit.

QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Apr 30 2005, 08:16 AM) QUOTE (Rivendell @ Apr 29 2005, 06:31 PM) To my knowledge their were no soldiers involved in the island hopping campaign. You mean Army as opposed to Marines? The army was significantly involved in many operations in the south pacific, from Guadacanal all the way to the Okinawa Operation. If that's not what you mean, then I don't know what you are talking about. I really doubt that any army presence was very significant. Army on an island hopping campaign? How did they get there? This is Marine Corps territory, and if they try to glorify the army in this history then this series is bullshit.
