  1. I prefer Vapor Trails, Snakes & Arrows & Clockwork Angels to the 90s albums.
  2. Some of the lyrics could very well be autobiographical, with the scenes in the lyrics being metaphorical. I hope all is well with Neil.
  3. The chord changes in Wish Them Well.
  4. Give it time! If anything, they are showing Dream Theater, THIS is how you do a concept album in 2012! And we are still the KINGS of it even if we have not done one since 1978!
  5. I am still absorbing it. On the 2nd listen my view changed. On the 3rd listen, it changed even more. I am still trying to figure it out.
  6. No, I don't think so. He is just reflecting on the idea and seeing how that idea is at a later stage in his life after having gone through so much.
  7. It it great not everyone is a Rush "yes person." However, I would suggest giving it time. I could not stand Grace Under Pressure until I saw the tour live 7 months after it came out. Then I loved it and understood it. I also thought Good News First was awful. Then I liked it after about 2 years.
  8. QUOTE (Flying Finn @ Jun 7 2012, 06:32 AM) They will use samples. No orchestra and rightly so. Well, yeah, but only if they do not play Losing It. That must be done with none other than Ben Mink. I doubt they would pay him to do the tour to only play on one song, however.
  9. Bought it on June 12 and did my Rush ritual for a new album: Went home, put on the headphones, got out the lyrics and listened to it uninterrupted. Well, I did this 3 times in a row! Every time I listened to it, I heard more and understood more. The album is NO DOUBT a concept album. Maybe it is new album excitement, but at the moment, I feel this could be the greatest album they have EVER done. Next only possibly to Hemispheres. My only thing is that the drums are too much in the background and Neil's drums and cymbals are way too far back in the mix. Alex is dominant with Geddy 2nd. I love the strings and vocals. My other feeling is that this entire album should be performed in its running order live. Otherwise, I do not think the songs will make sense and the effect might be lost. I say do a first set of old stuff (maybe even all of Signals), a very few others; Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, Earthshine, Leave that Thing Alone (with drum solo) and a second set of all of Clockwork Angels. Encore with Middletown Dreams and Mission and you have a perfect show!
  10. Wild West End by Dire Straights Another Ticket by Eric Clapton They both get to me every time. Check them out.

    Everyday Glory

Interesting observation. Great song. But it is honestly all !
  12. Really cool to see Rush with Pete. Glad that Neil has been getting into Jack DeJohnette so much lately. I almost went to that Catalina's show. I wonder how Neil dealt with all the people there who may have recognized him. It is a rather small club and there are not too many places to hide!
  13. Neil never saw the great Buddy Rich live. Certainly he had many opportunities too, but evidentally was not very familiar with him other than seeing him on The Tonight Show.
  14. No. Only if Neil decides it is.
  15. QUOTE (beherit @ May 25 2012, 11:32 PM) Dude rocks. If prog solo albums are your thing, try Voyage of the Acolyte by Steve Hackett. Yes! Also check out Steve Hackett Spectral Mornings. I like Fish Out Of Water more than a lot of Yes albums. It is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. Check out the CD/DVD. Chris does a run-down on every song. A must have!
  16. I am surprised Freddie Gruber did not stop this.
  17. Prime Mover since they did Mission last time. Should do both of them.
  18. I was front row on Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Hold Your Fire and Presto. There is no better place in the audience.
  19. It has to be Middletown Dreams. I saw them do it 3 times on that tour.
  20. Simple: Carl Palmer
  21. The only great album they ever did. Thanks to Carl!
  22. Could have voted for any of them. But I went with Lights Out.
  23. Will have to hear it. But he won't tour it as Tull. Only as Ian Anderson. He should have had anyone in the 1972 band play on it that still can, such as the great Barriemore Barlow (light years ahead of Neil) and Martin Barre. John Evan cannot play anymore and Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond left music back in 1976.
  24. One of the stupidist things ever.
