  1. 1st - Something for Nothing (ATWAS) 2nd - Freewill (ESL) 3rd - Kid Gloves 4th - Cut to the Chase 5th - None
  2. Absolutely. The fact that song was one of their most well known and best received songs in their live set was all an illusion. Futher proof is that the album went platinum and how crazy everyone went when they opened their show with it on the CA tour. Yeah, that's exactly the reaction a song that puts people off would get. I take the Signals criticism around here with a grain of salt. You have people who post in the “rank the albums” threads that MP and PeW are in the bottom 50%, well behind anything released after them. Don't get me wrong I like both Signals and Subdivisions, just feel it was the wrong song to have as the opening song. Then what song should have opened the album? I don't see any other track on Signals being a better choice. I agree. Subdivisions works best as an opener. I feel like its intro would interrupt the flow of the album anywhere else in the tracklist. Good point about the intro disrupting the flow of the album if Subdivisions is in another spot. I suppose Analog Kid would have made a good opening track instead. Great rocker with an excellent solo from Alex. But it gives you the wrong impression of the album's musical direction. Subdivisions sets that tone much better. Subdivisions is the perfect opener. It sets the tone perfectly, and sets my expectations appropriately low :D :D :D
  3. The solo for LVS is awesome, within the Rush canon. I would place Limelight as his best, or The Necromancer, Working Man, Cut to the Chase, Analog Kid... or ......{insert favorite solo} ? (to name a few, today)... From your list though, Buckethead can play circles around all of them combined, even though he gets no attention whatsoever... ;) Buckethead can play circles around Van Halen? Rhoads? No he can't. He doesn't play circles around Slash for that matter. you're right...I forgot to add Mustaine to the circle with Slash... :P (On Buckethead) Mustaine: He's brilliant; I love him. But then you see some guy like Buckethead… Buckethead is probably twice as good a guitar player as me and Slash combined, http://www.blabbermo...slash-combined/ Seriously he is unreal. He was on my radar for years but i wrote him off as gimmicky/weird. Big mistake. Known as shredder but thats only a small of the picture. Discovered by bootsy collins and having played at james brown memorial show he brings..... I thought so as well...(weirdo mask dude, he must stink if he needs a gimmick)... then I watched Jordan (from Guitar Hero) and some other videos last year for the heck of it....WTF?? Heard he was mellow as well, so I bought Electric Sea and Colma....add in Elephant's Man Alarm Clock, and then his 270+ Pikes....WTF x2 ? I'm running out of money trying to keep up with him....:D :P

Or sanity for that matter. :guitar: :P :D No doubt about that!!

  7. ...certainly a couple of interesting pictures on the wall....
  8. ESL works as 'greatest hits' album, but lacks really any sort of 'live' quality (to me) The glaring studio splice of LVS is too jarring to my ears...although I listen to it just to hear the shear awesomeness of Alex. Of course Xanadu and Freewill are probably the best versions...evah! :)
  9. Looks like Rush found its new drummer, now they only need a singer. :P
  10. All the World's A Stage In the early 80s I heard Crazy Train on the radio for the first time, and I was hooked by the song (although I had no clue who it was). My older sister was really into music and had dozens of albums, so I naturally assumed she would have a copy - of whoever it was... In a very stereotypical manner I started selecting albums where the band looked like they could play hard rock (my sis had lots of mellow music). Lo and behold ATWAS had a bunch of guys that looked the part, so I put it on for spin......then another spin and then another....hooked immediately...I couldn't believe the sound, especially Alex's guitar tone... In a weird twist, around the same time Limelight was also playing on the radio quite a bit, another tune I loved...again no clue who played it. It took some time to for me to figure out that the same band played Limelight and By-Tor & The Snog Dog.... :D
  11. I disliked your post without even have to read it.... :P Rude Damn, I`m 3 for 3... ;)
  12. I was thinking Everybody Wants Some...(the intro anyway). But Panama works too. :)
  13. I disliked your post without even have to read it.... :P
  14. ....Brian Carroll was one of his student. Who the hell is Brian Carrol? Oh, he filled in for Saul Hudson for a bit...
  15. ....I didn`t even click on the video and I could hear the awfulness...
  16. Problem is Geddy's probably not even the best keyboard player on most of Rush's albums.... to wit Counterparts John Webster – additional keyboards Presto Rupert Hine – additional keyboards Jason Sniderman – additional keyboards Hold Your Fire Andy Richards – additional keyboards, synthesizer programming Power Windows Andy Richards – additional keyboards Jim Burgess – additional synthesizers ....let the hate begin :P
  17. What the...? Is the same magazine that trashed Rush for decades and now is looking for ways to extend or infuse new life into the band?
  18. Snakes and Arrows.... ...Side B of the CD is much more enjoyable than Side A.... :P
  19. ...hmmmm....not sure, but PeW would still be an 80s album.
  20. ...in a nut shell... http://ednagreen.com/image/cache/numbered_shirts/tone_to_the_bone/rush-rash-d-600x600.jpg
  21. Poor Geddy...wishing Neil 'happy birthday' won`t get him in the studio nor on tour...
