  1. Happy Belated Birthday, Tinwoodsman! I hope you had a great day!
  2. An interesting setlist. I would have loved to hear this live, or any Rush concert for that matter. I may give this list a try on Spotify some day and try to figure out if the changes from Subdivisions to Force Ten or from The Main Monkey Business to The Garden could be done fluently. (It's Rush we're talking about, so if they for some reason had decided to perform this kind of setlist they would have made the fluency happen as well.)
  3. I'm so sorry to hear this. Our fur friends are a big part of our families, with the times and years spent together creating memories. I hope those beautiful moments carry your mom and your family through this sad loss.
  4. Waiting for help and care for hours is hard when you worry about the health of your loved one. I hope your mom is doing better by now.
  5. Reading her at first almost daily and later more and more infrequent notes on how the disease took it's toll on our Lorraine was painful. I can't even think of how excruciating the whole thing was for her. Every time I see sunflowers I think of Lorraine and bless her in my heart.
  6. Not today, but on Saturday: I made a quick visit to the local recycling center I always go to when I'm visiting my parents in my original home town. It's a small building that used to be a grocery store from the 50's to the 70's, but I always find some good stuff there. But this time I couldn't believe my eyes as I walked to the kitchen utensils shelves. There was a blue mug with elephants printed on it. Exactly the same kind of mug that was my most favorite one when I was a kid! It was in mint condition. And to top it off, right there beside the first mug stood another similar mint one, but in pink. I didn't know it was made in many colours back in the 80's. English quality work. I had to pay 2 €:s for the pair.
  7. That's very good news! A new beginning for both families in many ways.
  8. Satan & Adam by V. Scott Balcerek (2018). A rough and beautiful story.
  9. You will never be too old to read with your kids. I'd love to hear my parents read to me again. I've read many children's books recently, the illustration in many of them are gorgeous, and I find the stories comforting.
  10. I'm so very sorry to read this, NoahLutz. Hugs and prayers coming your way. I wish you and your family a lot of strength during this devastating time.
  11. Thank you, Rhyta. She will be remembered for her warmth and those eyes that smiled. A great soul never dies.
  12. Thank you, blueschica. I will be honoured to attend her memorial on Saturday.
  13. Two days ago my childhood family got the news that the eldest of our family had passed. She lived to be 99 years. She had such grace, warmth, wit, and a great sense of humour. She lived in her house in the countryside in our village since I guess from the 1940s until the end of August. Only the last few weeks were spent in the local hospital. We used to visit her and her family a few times a year, and every single time we were warmly welcomed. She was the godmother of my father and mother of his cousins. She had a life full of work in the family farm, and she was widowed in the early 1980s. Later she also lost an adult child. She was always interested in how everybody was doing. In June I visited her with my parents, and as we left she stayed by the window, waving her hand for as long as we were in sight. I waved back and thought that this may be the last time. And it was, for me. Today as I was choosing a beautiful post card for condolences for her children, grandchildren and grand-grandchildren, I just broke into tears, again. The teardrops were like diamonds on my black sweater and stayed there for a long while. The qrand lady of our hearts will be missed for the rest of our lives.
  14. The Duck book consist for the most part of transcriptions (+tabs), and the biographical part is pretty short. There are some nice photos, too. The book is in black and white. A recommended easy read for anybody interested in the subject. Carol is the godmother of bass, a true legend. I haven't read the Wrecking Crew book but I'm familiar with the story. Might be worth a read. Thank you for the tip.
  15. Fazer Remix Arctic +choco. Kinda like those ones with blackcurrant & vanillin, it's something pretty unusual. The blue polar bear ones, in turn, have a taste of pear & citrus, and both the taste and the polar bear refer to a long-time Finnish candy classic. The choco part is the best, however: cream fudge covered with milk chocolate.
  16. Being totally unaware of meteorology and astronomy I learned yesterday that the Sun and the Moon can team up and sometimes cause a lot of havoc: "When the moon is full, the sun and the moon are pulling in the same direction, which has the effect of increasing tides above normal ranges, said Kerry Emanuel, professor emeritus of atmospheric science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology." https://time.com/6309756/supermoon-hurricane-idalia/ I hope everybody living in what was the impact area of Idalia is safe. Here in Finlad it's cloudy and a little bit rainy/moist. No wind at all, 16 'C.
  17. Happy Birthday blueschica! I wish you a day full of joy, adventure, and lovely encounters!
  18. A very late thank you to all of you. I did have a very good birthday. My fiancé spoiled me the whole day and took me to a dinner and bought me beautiful flowers. We enjoyed spending this wonderful summer day together.
  19. Sure, I have. I Love Duck. The movie was fun even though I was a small kid from the Finnish periphery who barely recognized any actor from the movie back then, let alone musicians. But I used to listen to the original Blues Brothers soundtrack over and over again - my sister had copied someone's copy of the tape. It still is a great soundtrack. Steve Jordan would not agree on the greatness when it comes to his drumming. He said he played way too much and way too fast. At 2:06->. Love Steve as well.
  20. I received the book Soul Fingers : The Music & Life of Legendary Bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn today! He's in the top three of my bass heroes.
