Which rush album are you currently listening to lately

You, Sir, have impeccable taste in music ! You as well good sir! I never tire of CoS. I take breaks from my other faves but if I get in a Rush mood, I reach for my tattered old CoS vinyl. Surprisingly went back to GuP and PoW on the weekend. Not an 80s hater, just usually not in that kind of mood. -

Dumbest album cover in their entire discography. I'd rather look at 3 red balls than that stupid owl. -

Driven Show Don't Tell -
Absolutely. The fact that song was one of their most well known and best received songs in their live set was all an illusion. Futher proof is that the album went platinum and how crazy everyone went when they opened their show with it on the CA tour. Yeah, that's exactly the reaction a song that puts people off would get. I take the Signals criticism around here with a grain of salt. You have people who post in the “rank the albums” threads that MP and PeW are in the bottom 50%, well behind anything released after them. Don't get me wrong I like both Signals and Subdivisions, just feel it was the wrong song to have as the opening song. Then what song should have opened the album? I don't see any other track on Signals being a better choice. I agree. Subdivisions works best as an opener. I feel like its intro would interrupt the flow of the album anywhere else in the tracklist. Good point about the intro disrupting the flow of the album if Subdivisions is in another spot. I suppose Analog Kid would have made a good opening track instead. Great rocker with an excellent solo from Alex. But it gives you the wrong impression of the album's musical direction. Subdivisions sets that tone much better. Subdivisions is the perfect opener. It sets the tone perfectly, and sets my expectations appropriately low

Bottom 5 Rush album for me

I like the minimalism of the Hold Your Fire cover but it's pretty boring. This might actually be a popular one but the juggler photo should have been the front cover.

Wholeheartedly agree! I'm guessing you guys are teenagers that just haven't heard a lot of music. I'm 57, but I still feel like a teenager... Perhaps the All-Knowing Professor, otherwise referred to as "edhunter" is in a giving mood so as to shower us lesser-beings with his greater Light and Knowledge... I've heard death metal shredding that makes Alex sound like Lil Wayne but guitar solos aren't about how big your metaphorical cock is of course it's not. It's about feel and how it suits its particular song. While the exit stage left version of La Villa is my favorite lifeson solo it doesn't hold a candle to Stevie Ray Vaughan's Riviera Paradise, or Angus Young Hells Bells or whoever the guy was that played the solo on Chuck Mangione's Feels So Good. I'm not saying it is the best 100% Just when I think "great solos", it's probably the first I think of. And I'm not a teenager, I'm 12 and a half. I'm 12 1/2 too and have been ever since that older chick with the ruler measured in math class Back to the topic at hand La Villa is in that top echelon of solos that not only come to mind for their fire and "wow" factor, but it also made that song what it is - a classic not only in the Rush catalog, but all rock instrumentals .. The composition and creative build is perfect - It's impossible to compare this guitarist with that guitarist in terms of ability or "who's better" -- but I think you'd be hard pressed to find another guitarist among the greats who could have contributed a better solo for that song .. It's perfect La Villa Great point. Would we all be jizzing over La Villa Strangiato if it had the solo from Rockin In The Freeworld? Probably not.
