  1. I have been emailing CBS "Sunday Morning" about Rush, as they highlight music and the people that make music. I have had no success and they never respond to any of my emails. I especially wanted them to honor Rush with their 40th anniversary. "Sunday Morning" would be a great idea for a Rush segment. The perfect venue to revisit their history and what's planned for the future. Maybe if more people emailed them, it might happen.
  2. My wife and I were sitting outside in very nice spring weather a couple evenings ago. I had Rush playing "shuffle whole collection" pretty loud along with adult refreshments and smoke. She mentioned to me that this type of evening would no longer be acceptable if we were to move to a townhouse as we had planned. After thinking about this even more, I realized there is more to this story than loud music. I now realize the freedom I will lose to others, should we move to a multi family dwelling. Of course we are getting up in age now and taking care of 2 acres of grass to mow and gardens to tend, a house to maintain and taxes to pay, we thought moving to the city would be our best bet. Thanks to loud Rush music and some encouraging words from my wife, we are going to try and build our own house, our way and as far out in the country as we can get. Long live loud Rush music outside at night. In our own courtyard. I realize now I can downsize without leaving the sanctuary of the wonderful woods.
  3. I have had the opportunity to listen to rushradio.org for the last couple days. I made a comment earlier regarding my dislike for CA. Well that position has changed a bit. I now like some songs quite well and it was refreshing to listen to something new. Its still not on my favorite album list and its not one of Rush's best work, but I am starting to appreciate it more. Anyone know whats going on with rush radio? A few weeks ago, I could not get www.rushradio.org to play. Then I found it on "Shoutcast" and it played just fine. Now "Shoutcast" is not playing and ,org is. Whats up with this and which station do you guys listen to? I use an IPhone
  4. What the f**k is any of this about?
  5. Yeah, I think this study shows big spikes, which doesn't happen much with really popular bands, because it's hard to "improve" their numbers. Ergo, it's more strange that Rush appears than some obscure band. Also, I'm slightly ashamed that my state really likes The Greatful Dead. I have always wanted to know what was so special about the Dead? They seem to have quite a following. It seems those who like the Dead, hate Rush for some reason. It also seems that those who like the Dead seem to like every band i don't really like. My friend and neighbor is a big Dead fan and even has a picture of Garcia on his front door. But Rush to him is like Justin Bieber to me.. Exactly what is the Dead all about? It sounds like blue grass and country mixed up together on the few tunes i have listened to. Is it true they actually have no songs, but just get up on stage and jam for two hours and everyone goes nuts? Maybe its just me, but I grow to love a song, the words and the music. I'm obviously a Rush fanatic. But I also in fact love the Dead. It can happen, LOL. Okay fair enough. Tell me about this "jam" band stuff. Do they actually have songs they have written, or do they just get up on stage and play whatever comes to mind? How many albums do they have and are any of them studio recordings? What is the genre? Rock?, Country rock? Bluegrass mixed with country and a few guitar riffs? And who is "Dick" The guy with the "picks"? How does he fit into the band? I am asking as I have no idea as to why they are so popular and revered by so many people. I did not listen to them growing up. Is that why I "don't get it"? Tel me what makes the Dead special and give me a song you know will change everything I have ever thought about them. Thanks.
  6. I got lucky. My wife is also a big Rush fan.

  8. I like your profile picture not talking about the dolphins pic but that's nice too.. ! (Ass n grass lol) Thanks.
  9. Well I listened to it again and I like it a little better. Maybe because of the reinforcement from here on a couple songs. Not sure. Its still not in my list of favorite Rush albums. Ghost Rider is in my head and it will not leave. I have that problem. A song will stick to my brain for weeks. I heard an old song a couple days ago by The Toadies. Possum Kingdom. This song is also stuck to my brain for some reason.
  10. I am in SC. and have never heard of "Hillsong United". I am originally from Miami and never heard of Rick Ross either. In fact, there are only a couple bands listed that i have heard of.
  11. I read a thread here some time back regarding Vapor Trails and how bad it was. Then out came the revised edition and most said they liked it better. VP is a great album and Ghost Rider has become one of my latest fav's. I would put VP original version ahead of CA. I would put S&A high above CA too. I guess its like they say. "opinions are like assholes. We all have one". PS......I am listening to CA again (right now) just because I know it will grow on me. But this is the first time I needed a Rush album to grow on me.
  12. Yesterday on PFT (Pro Football Talk) TV show, Rush was chosen by Eric the host as his favorite. Not 2112, but it was refreshing for a change!
  13. I really don't get all the love for CA. I really don't. I am not sure why its my least favorite of all their albums? Have I given it a fair chance? Maybe, maybe not. Have I listened to the album multiple times? No. Once was plenty. Have I watched the live show? No. I will listen again, but in my opinion, it is the worst album ever. The Garden is nice and all and a couple other songs are okay, but to say this is their best work is silly IMHO.
  14. OP. How old are you? As people get older, time is perceived to speed up. What might be a long time to you, might just be a moment to someone older. As an example. When I was a kid, one day (24 hours) took forever. Now that I am pushing 60, one week is gone before I even know it. Then years start to speed by. The clock continues to spin faster until you spin no more.
  15. Can you tell me what it was like to listen to Rush in 'their prime' Just like listening to them today. They actually sound better in some regards as the technical aspect of music has drastically improved. With the exception of vocal decline, they are as good today as they were in 1977.
  16. Because he sings like shit these days...and has for at least a decade. Bullshit. He just doesn't sing like he did when he (and you) were young because his voice has changed. The way he has adapted and the performances he can still give his fans should be applauded. Your and my fanhood aside, I can't play anything live of the last 10 years in front of my kids. They just look at each other and laugh. Out of the mouths of babes. His voice is not the same, but it is his voice and I have no issue with it. Rush would not be Rush without Geddy and his voice. My kids laughed at everything I liked when they were younger. But they didn't know shit. And neither do your kids. When your base is Justin Bieber and Katy Perry and a host of rappers, do you really expect them to have any appreciation for real music? Rush has a history. A history they can be proud of. I am proud because I got a chance to share in that history. If it ever comes to a point that Geddy cannot sing the songs, this is when Rush should just blow out the candle. My kids know plenty. They are very good musicians. They generally don't go for much of the new music. They like Rush. They know when someone strains all the time, can't hit notes and is out of tune. It it what it is. I wouldn't change it either. Geddy is the voice of Rush and I can live with it. Doesn't mean its good though. I see the point was entirely missed. No one, even me, says Geddy has a great or even good voice today. But it is the band Rush. No one expects you're kids to appreciate this history as the music they like today will be replaced by more shit in just a short few years. If you don't see Rush as collaborative and needing one another to be Rush, you don't share the same history I do. Geddy Lee is Rush. And deservedly so.

I love the song. I really do not get most of you critics anyway.
  19. I recorded it last time it was on. Truthfully its pretty lame if you have see the full and complete product already. Its only the second set and some stuff after too.... How can it be 1/2 the concert, yet be 2.5 hours long? And i have not seen the any of it yet. You will enjoy it either way if you prepare for the show as previously stated.... :) Yes, I saw what you meant. I had it recorded to DVR and edited out the commercials. I enjoyed it. I was surprised at how good the string section rounded out the sound. Very nice.

  21. Usually its just segments of the DVD. But I notice its 2.5 hours long this time. I recorded (DVR) it last night, because I could not tune in for the whole show. I will put it (record it) to DVD when I watch it. I want to have several beers in me, a fattie in hand and plenty time to enjoy with my wife. If anyone saw it last night? Was it the complete concert?
  22. If interested, DirectV is showing CA on VH1 channel 337 tonight (Friday) at 9:00 PM eastern standard time. If you can't catch the show tonight, you will get another opportunity on Sunday night at 8:00 PM. Same channel.
