Just got back from picking Rocky up from the vet. He's moving about gingerly, had to lift him up into the car. But once he knew he was home, he jumped right out. Hitting the water bowl pretty hard, and ate only a nibble of food (which the Vet said to go easy for tonight). He's on pain pills for a week, and goes back to get his staples removed in 12 days. So far so good. How's Rocky doing? He's doing good, considering. Back to normal eating and drinking. He is beginning to sniff around the wounded area, and I may need to put the Elizabethan Collar, aka The Cone of Shame, on him. He'll probably move about very carefully until the Vet removes the staples.

Poll: Tom Petty Or Bruce Springsteen?
pjbear05 replied to GeddysMullet's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Petty, but only because I've never been impressed by Springsteen, period. -
My old video and audio devices utilized RCA type plugs and jacks that I would hook up to my old audio receiver. But nowadays everything is utilizing HTML plugs and jacks. Do single to dual HTML cords exist (separate plugs for video and audio), and is there a reasonably priced audio receiver that accepts both RCA and HTML plug ins? I want to retain my old stereo speakers, which work fine. Thanks in advance!

Mark Kennedy and Meskin Fedaku, AP, from Eddie's obituary: ... Eddie Van Halen fueled the ultimate California party band and helped knock disco off the charts... " Truer words were never spoken or written. For that alone, I raise my glass  . Ave atque vale; Hail and farewell. Rest easy, sir!

Marinated sirloin steak nachos with green peppers and refried beans. And Rocky gets a generous portion of grilled sirloin mixed into his regular dry food for his last meal before surgery tomorrow.

Chiefs survived a very well-coached but depleted Patriots team, with help from the officials. That 3rd down fumble/pick that was not only blown dead but called an incomplete pass changed things. Chiefs were smart enough to get the quick punt off before any challenge could be made. IMO the refs have been instructed to protect Mahomes at all costs. He's been described even by the in game announcers (tacky!) as the "new face of the NFL" and he's getting the kid gloves treatment as a result. Have always felt Rodgers gets the same and Pey Pey did too. Russell Wilson and Cam Newton can only dream of that kind of protection. And before anyone accuses me........I love Mahomes, great player, great kid. I also like the Chiefs from back inn the AFL days (along with the Chargers and Raiders) before the Seahawks even existed, Packers too. Meh, it's protect all these pansies. I get targeting, leading with your helmet, and shots to a vital body part, but Jeez, enough with these whiny beyotches. What's next, delayed fake reaction to hits as in soccer? Please!

Located an Italian restaurant that makes small (8 inch diameter) NY pizzas. Carried out a cheese, pepperoni, sliced meatballs, extra sauce. Crispy, lots of cheese and without the extra olive oil. While I was picking up a couple and their two daughters were polishing off a 16"x 16" Sicilian, said if they're not in there eating once a week, they're doing carry out from there. Perfect, need to go in for a sitdown.

I was at my local, scarfing wings, downing Yeunglings, and watching Russell Wilson do a number on the Trashfish, when Beckham made that touchdown run against the Cowpiles. Several shouts went up, my own included. To paraphrase my favorite Lawrence Sanders line, it warmed the heartles of my cock. Patriots/Chiefs great so far, going to be wild!

The 3-0 and #7 ranked Miami Hurricanes prepare to play Clemson Saturday. They'll probably get clawed and mauled by the Tigers, but for me: "It's a Caines thing - U wouldn't understand"

The consensus is that it was all Curt Flood's fault.... I remember Harry Caray, who at the time was broadcasting the Cardinals PbP, having a conniption fit on the air over Flood's misjudgment of a fly ball during game 7 that broke the Card's back.

YouTube videos of an intriguingly bizarre magician/illusionist from Indonesia, The Sacred Riana. Most of the videos are from America's Got Talent, where she thoroughly disturbs the judges and proceeds to scare the s--t out of Mel B.

^This. Braveheart was decent, but Apocalypto blew me away. James Horner's sound track is mesmerizing to boot. My other choices: The Seven Up's (1973) Thief (1981) Stick (1985) Ed Wood (1994) Dick (1999) Captain Phillips (2013) The Post (2017) THIEF! I LOVE that movie, its totally awesome!!!!!!!! And the seven ups another awesome one. The bad guy driving the car is a long haired version of one of the bad guys in Bullitt - and hes a real stunt driver I think... Yep, Bill Hickman drove in Seven Ups, French Connection and the car being chased by Steve McQueen in Bullitt.

Outstanding on all counts, KJ! Put 'em on the bullrings and let 'em bang. Now if they were to go back to every race meaning something, and if one driver is running away with it, tough, I wouldn't mind a bit. The other auto racing situation I'm awaiting with bated breath is my other love NHRA, particularly Nitro Funny Cars. Imho the whole sports got a major wake up call when multiple championship driver John Force decided to opt out the entire John Force Racing team this season. Some said " it's smart business, John knows what's up", while others say "he just killed the sport". We'll see, but John's a smart old bird, I think he was right.

With all my heart, I hope it goes well with Rocky. I love dogs. They are the most faithful and loving animals. Humans could learn a few things from them Rocky is most fortunate to have you as an owner. Many dogs aren't so lucky to have good owners, but they love them nevertheless. Yes you are a great companion to Rocky, wishing him a successful surgery :) Hey look who's here :hi: this is new... SINCERELY hope they are benign. And I am truly blessed that he is mine. He has been such an example of solace since losing Karen. He will sometimes just stand in front of my chair looking like "nah, don't need to go out or eat, just checking on you. You all right? Yeah, I miss her, too." He has had the bump on his chest for a while, and it hasn't gotten bigger. The Vet is playing safe. The growth by the bad leg is only 2-3 months old, and just hangs there. It's cold to the touch, so there's no blood circulating in it, but it was sort of fleshy. At first I thought is was a big abcess, and about to rupture. Yuck!

Rocky, my 13 year old lurcher (hound/lab mix) has a few bumps and swellings, but my veterinarian and I have only been concerned with two of them. One is on the right front of his chest, appears to be on his ribs, no big deal. The other was a fleshy mass growing five inches in front of his right rear leg. That second one is now slightly larger than a golf ball. Last week the vet, aware of my knowledge of canine health from my days of dogcatching, said he can remove both of them. But he wanted to do a biopsy of the lump on his chest, and said he'd call me advising of surgery, which he has done by a consulting vet that he sub-contracts. Got word from the vet today, and Rocky goes in for surgery on October 7. Rough estimate around $1700, which I can handle. Drop him off in the early am; likely pick him up late that day after he recovers from general anesthesia. To be continued...
