  1. Did they at least have sweet potato pies? Nope, not happening in my area, not enough bro's and sista's. I'd have to go down to the 'hood to get one. Publix is different as it tends to stock a particular store with the nearby local population in mind. This store it's mostly whites and actually more Latinos (Cuban mainly) than blacks. The next nearest Publix is in an area where Southern whites predominate. The third nearest is in an area heavily populated by Jewish households, most of which are Orthodox or Sephardic, and will strictly adhere to Kosher dietary laws. I hit that store right before Passover to pick up my annual supply of Coke Classic "Kosher for Passover" , made with the original Coca-Cola formula - table sugar instead of that nasty HFCS.
  2. Bake your own. It will taste better. I'm baking a pumpkin cheesecake tomorrow. They're delicious! We're doing an unconventional thanksgiving. Spaghetti and scratch made sauce with Italian sausage. We're saving the canned pumpkin for Friday and a recipe the wife found online - ground turkey and pumpkin chili.
  3. Sad, but in a funny way. I'm in the local Publix, picking up a few groceries. Some folks there are hard at it, getting provisioned up for Turkey Day. Now most stores have an in house Bakery putting out all types of breads, cakes, pies, cookies, etc. This one has ready to serve Apple pies, Dutch Apple pies, and pecan pies, but get this, NO ready to eat pumpkin pies - NOT A ONE! I was tempted to ask them WTF, but thought better of it.
  4. I looked at DPR's OP and thought "Was this guy's previous experience with the Nigerian Lottery scam?" On my personal e-mail most crap like this gets auto router to the Spam folder, to be trashed and deleted. However, morons keep trying. Somebody from "secure banking" sent some of my co-workers and I an email ( these all to Federal .gov adresses), claiming a security breach, and trued to get me to open a portal to send them information. It's not the first time someone's tried that stunt, so the email was forwarded to our separate mailbox for phishing reports. There will probably be an advisory on our intranet site tomorrow.
  5. Saw EJ years ago at the Seminole Hard Rock opening for Jonny Lang. Got into Eric after seeing him play Desert Rose on the Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD. Definitely looking at the Ft. Lauderdale gig.
  6. Not tryin to sway you one way or another HB, but this is good stuff to help clear the mind and assist in decision making http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC5H9P4F5Uk Loves me some SRV vibrato....like he's strangling the f**k out of the neck. First saw him on Austin City Limits and was floored...and absolutely mindblown when he did a better version of Voodoo Chile than Jimi. :o I never saw him live...despite having a chance to see him at the local county fair at his 2nd to last concert before he died. One of my major life regrets. The father of one of Stevie' s friends owned a metalworking shop, and Stevie had him get some super heavy metal bar stock and fabricate whammy bars for his Strats. I remember a video where his Strat is on the floor, he has his foot on the body, and he is jerking on the whammy bar as if he's trying to rip the whole vibrato unit off the body.
  7. Robin Trower. Not even a contest. Saw the almighty trio (Robin, James, & Reg) live four times back when I lived in The D, and they killed it every time. Best one was at Cobo Hall, where they were between opener The Stampeders and Jethro Tull headlining. They played all the hot songs, including a 15 minute jam of "Too Rolling Stoned". Yeah, about 90% of that crowd was rolling stoned, YT included! :smoke:
  8. Saw the opening, Dvr'ed the rest, will squeeze in between football this weekend. If that first song was a taste, the whole meal should be epicurean.
  9. 5 stars, and the Blue Angels video smokes too.
  10. You should love the rest of them. IMHO the Classic Albums on Electric Ladyland has been the biggest steaming dog pile of the series. Tonight's is Dark Side of the Moon, and we'll see how that one goes. Agree. Noel Redding was a bitter old guy by the time this was filmed, and that was quite some time ago as he died in '03. The Black Sabbath Paranoid episode was very good. DSOTM was good too iirc. Let us know how you liked it. Oh hell yeah, the Paranoid episode kicked major ass, best of the Series IMHO.

  12. Most of the traveling Karen (Mrs. Bear) and I did was years ago when we had the luxury of two incomes, and we had some great trips, mostly in the Western US with an emphasis on the national parks. Now we're trying to figure out how to make do on pensions. Good luck with that.
  13. The local PBS station is teaming up with AAA to sponsor a tour in September of '18 from Seattle to Calgary that includes 2 days on the Rocky Mountaineer train. Looks interesting, but we're talking from $4,600 pp.
  14. That our debris from Irma, including some 8 whole or partial Areca palms ranging from 8-10 feet, was finally gone by the time I got home from work. There's a big depressed area on the swale, but that should recover. Now I need to check the tree line in front of the wall at the back of the property for more broken palms.
  15. 559-Johnny Stecchino (1991). A bumbling bus driver with a penchant for stealing bananas is mistaken for a mob boss. Both characters hilariously played by Roberto Benigni.
  16. Petty, Landau, Allman, & J Geils. Petty the shocker, WTF? Bad so far, and 2 months plus to go.
  17. Moving Pictures side one 2112 side one Moving Pictures side two. In that order.
  18. I was a skinny dweeb when I was 17. Stayed on the straight and narrow, was living neat and clean. But now I'm a man, way past 21. Let me tell you, baby, I have me some fun. I'm a man... With apologies to McKinley Morganfield.
  19. I'm about to start looking for a new, and probably last, vehicle to replace the 2013 Sonata I bought new. I want to go the SUV route, but haven't seen anything I'm comfortable in. At 6' 4", mostly in the legs, it isn't easy. Kind of looking at the Chevy Equinox, but not real sure. Any ideas?
  20. I remember THAT pain.... Hey didja see that MICHIGAN beat the TAR outa Prudue yesterday? Oh yeah, between the networks and cable I see most of their games. Go Blue!
  21. After a two week vacation, which again was screwed up by a hurricane, I have to go back to work tomorrow :boo hiss: .
  22. The Munsters and no one has mentioned 59) The Addams Family? YGBSM!
  23. Full Metal Jacket, Spartacus a close second.
