  2. Into the third week of November and still no snow in urban Manitoba. It has tried snowing many times, but nothing has stuck. Now the place just feels weird with freezing temps yet a completely dry landscape.
  3. Easily this one for me The Big Money Grand Designs Manhattan Project Marathon
  4. Update from Brandon Manitoba, still no snow as we approach mid-November and loving it. We have been reaching negatives every evening now, but yesterday we were supposed to get snow, but a sudden wind change diverted it, and now no more precipitation is called for a least another week. WOOHOO!
  5. I enjoy Jack Black, both in the doc as a unique interviewee, and in general as an actor.
  6. Nice, I really love Paramore's self titled release. Good mix of stuff on that. I have also been meaning to get to Tragic Kingdom for sometime now. No Doubt are a very special band to me, I love their creativity, look and especially sound. I think Gwen is a real artist, and a quirky performer. I could have put any ND album on this list, as I am a big fan of all of them! As for Paramore, their self-titled album took me by complete surprise last year, and I genuinely think it is as close to perfect as pop rock can possibly get! Agreed, the variety of pop styles covered, as well as the catchy yet risky songs create a nice flow to the album. Favorites for me are Fast In My Car and Part II
  7. Yeah, I have seen this before. Someone had the idea that they could do this experiment by cross-referencing the average SAT score for a university or college a person attends (or their choice not to attend post secondary) with the music they have liked via facebook. Clearly this is a failed experiment based on the quick result method the researcher used. A lot of bands on here belong in very different places clearly. The only way to accurately do an experiment like this would be via individual IQ or SAT scores, and cross referencing with music genres and overall top bands, not groups people happened to click the like button for.

  9. I was on a tour of Banff once and the tour guide was from Winnipeg. He said Winterpeg has 2 seasons - winter and July... ;) I wish you a tolerable winter, fellow Canuck! :hi: It's not really that bad, its more like we have the following seasons. Winter(January-March), The Spring Teaser Campaign(March), Winter (Again, up to April), Spring (May), Summer (June-August), What, Winter Already (one week in september), Fall (Sept-Oct), Somehow it's summer again (one week in October), Winter onward from there.
  10. For me, I have enjoyed Yes, but not enough yet to be motivated to delve into their discography. I do own the Drama album, and love it, as well think its a great starting place for Rush fans (Sorry Narp, but I am at odds with you, all the content on Drama blows me away). I should note that my opinion is a bit biased, because I am a big fan of The Buggles, so having Trevor Horn sing and Geoffrey Downs do the Keyboards instead of Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman (or whom ever else has done keys for yes), wins some major points from me. Trevor Horn in particular is a genius writer and producer. The Bias goes further considering that White Car, Into the Lens, and Run Through the Light were Buggles songs adapted for Yes.
  11. Oddly, southern Manitoba, which contains the world's coldest city (with a population over 500,000) has yet to see any snow stay on the ground. We have had one scare with snow that melted when it touched the ground, and another day with frost everywhere, but it has been nice and relatively warm. Here is hoping that continues.
  12. I was Chernabog (The Demon from Fantasia's Night On Bald Mountain sequence) for a Halloween party last week, and tomorrow I will be sporting a Luigi hat and Moustache (along with my Nightmare Before Christmas t-shirt)
  13. Just curious. This has probably been asked before, but I have never seen a topic like it while I have been a member. For me, its a tie between Subdivisions (Accurate video, and I love the trope of someone watching the band on TV), and The Big Money (Favorite Song, mixed with some awesome 80s CGI) I did not make this topic a poll due to the fact that some people might consider promotional live clips and lyric videos as music videos, while others may not, so I though everyone could share casually. Discuss.
  14. Panda Bear's (my favorite musician) Next Album "Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper" comes out January 12th, and a companion EP called Mr. Noah is out now (and no one probably cares but me) Also They Might Be Giant's Dial A Song service is returning online, with a new song every week for one year. Yay!
  15. They Might Be Giants Animal Collective Weird Al Honorable mention for Rush
  16. So sorry to hear. Sorry I don't have more to say, but I don't really have any knowledge on that topic.
  17. Love this clip. Not to mention I love how David Bowie has Klaus Nomi in his entourage. Such an obscure reference.
  18. Nice song pick. I liked the vocalist, really nice voice. The music feels like its being inspired by quite a few 90's/early 00's pop rock bands, but does not grab from any one inspiration any more than another, making this very unique and grand tribute to the era. Not sure what the lyrics are about upon first listen, but i enjoyed hearing the words "shes a tree" over and over. So far this has been the best song I have heard on this forum, and thank you Mr. IsNot for resurrecting it. Here is my suggestion, a fun song called Little Fang by Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks, a side project of Animal Collective by Avey Tare (duh). Ever since this song came out in April I have not kept it out of my constant song rotation. It has a nice dark feel to it, yet its also catchy and upbeat. Also, Bonus its kinda Halloween themed-ish.
  19. Fixed, I just realized I was here 2012, not 2013. So I guess you may have seen me before then.
  20. Nice to meet you, I joined December 2013. I don't really know what I am known for on here, but if I would have to guess, it would be along the lines of making posts too long for anyone to bother and read.
  21. The Big Money (and I air synth that too)
  22. Agreed. The artwork is amazing. I like this band, and will give this a spin soon! Glad to hear it, they are my favorite band after all. Which songs did you already know to like them? Also, you still have not told me what you thought of Oingo Boingo.
  23. I stopped wearing jeans at age 12 or so. They never fit right, get holes way too easily, don't contort easily to motion, have tight pockets, get really cold during the winter, they're BLUE! (hate that colour) and EVERYONE wears them. These days I just wear these multipurpose pants from Canadian Costco stores. Don't even need to try them on, just grab the proper size and they seem to be opposite to all the problems I have with jeans.
