Do you know the name of the bootleg? it was called Rush Mid-American dreams. it's on youtube. At like 54:50. He says "PRETTY F*CKIN' SAD MAN!!!!!!!!! I laughed so hard. Mick I'm going to see if I have the bootleg. I think I do. The title sounds familiar. I have it and am listening to it now.... :laughing guy: :laughing guy: :laughing guy: ,,,, did you hear that he repeated it again? How embarrassing for them. Mick, did you listen to the entire bootleg? Geddy sounds wonderful. This is the bootleg where he introduces Territories as a dancing song. I love the way they did Distant Early Warning on this one - slightly different at the end. They used to do their songs faster. I miss that a lot. I love this show. Territories was great here. Loved the intro, lol. I been listening to loads of shows on youtube. Mick

Now Echoes. THAT is mah jam, brah!! Heh. Seriously its the ultimate Song!!! AHM doesn't quite work on the album but live they smoked it. And Fat Old Sun became quite the jam vehicle back then. Floyd live peaked between 70-72. After that they became staid live but recorded better albums. Floyd for as legendary as they became......man did they have a shitty first round of records. Then meddle happened....and bingo. they found it. IMO of course. Mick -

I like marathon. but man did i giggle. i rewound it like 8 times. Mick

It sucks. And I only can say that about a handful of Rush songs. That is one of them. Still better than most of CP. CP has got to be the goofiest Record they ever recorded. I don't mean goofy as in oh that rush so much fun......i mean goofy as in just STOP, lol. Nobody's Hero, Speed of Love, Alien Shore, Double Agent, Cold Fire. Awful. Mick -

Floyd didn't start for me personally till Meddle. Never liked the Syd stuff either. He's considered sort of a God but....why......he was a sad burnout to me. Mick -
I prefer they drop the song myself. It was never as good as it's hailed to be anyway. IMO Mick

Donald Fagen became your idol when he was 19? Did you grow up together? (I keed). lol. I AM Donald Fagen. All those great albums? Your welcome. Donald ;)

Pet Sounds? Isn't that The Beach Boys? Yes. these 2 are often compared.....Pepper and Pet Sounds that is. I call it Snore Sounds. Mick

Funny thing. My first Beatles album was rubber soul. Second was Pepper. Now i love Rubber Soul to bits. I put Pepper on. I was 10......my young mind was like.....DA HELL HAPPENED??!!! lol. I did not like it. one. little. bit. lol. I grew to appreciate it but it was never a fav. Not even close. Mick

I have heard the Bee Gees one and thats a wise choice. I don't know Spocks though. Is that a good place to start? Spock's is a great modern prog band. Day for Night is one of my favs.....but i would start with either The Light which is their debut or The kindness of Strangers. Both excellent albums. Mick I'm familiar with Nick D'Virgilio. Have you ever checked out any Mike Keneally stuff? No but i will check him ouut. Mick

Did i mention Donald Fagen......at 19 he became like my idol. one of the weirdest yet coolest frontmen ever, lol Mick

We talk about filler......that is filler. It just reeks of a song they needed JUST to pad and fill an album. Mick

The dan is different. not prog at all, Not AOR. they're just........Steely Dan. who had one of the best album runs in rock history. Countdown to Ecstasy through Gaucho. Mick

I just the Suite and Fat old Sun........the rest.......blah. Mick -
Damn girl, Your slacking off! Wasn't really my type of music when I was younger. I was more of a hard rock kinda gal. :D If you like Steely Dan, You really need to check out the stuff before Aja. Aja they really smoothed out. Pre-Aja stuff is more raw when you compare it to Aja, lol Mick Yep, The earlier stuff was more raw for sure. :D Aja is far from my fav for that reason. Great stuff but so slick i nearly dropped the disc on first play, lol Mick The one thing about Aja, despite its brilliance, that bothered me was its slickness. So if the earlier stuff is more on the "raw" side, where shall I start? please start with the Royal Scam. you will love it. More guitar and harder for the Dan at least. Mick
