  1. Did you attend an R40 concert? I did. And the hype around R40 was well justified. The shows were truly EPIC
  2. My most disliked Rush song is War Paint.
  3. Rush would have been even more successful if Geddy was not the singer.
  4. Just found this thread. I absolutely love blues guitar. SRV live Montreux 1985 gets played at my house everyday. Also a huge fan of Seasick Steve.
  5. Most overrated drumer ever...really? F*ck me people today love to exaggerate. The fact that Neil is one of the few drummers who (along with Bonham) is known by non-drummers and non-muso's has put sand in some vaginas.
  6. Working Man.
  7. Neil Peart is the only drummer I feel compelled to air drum to. Just can't help it.
  8. LOL I kinda understand the sentiment. Rush is like a huge secret club, only us Rush fans will understand. I rememeber T4E being referred to a Alex's return to rock by the guitar magazines at the time.
  9. There's nothing wrong with T4E. IMO it's one of the few Rush albums that you could play to a first time listener that wouldn't scare them away.
  10. Stevie Ray Vaughan - Mary had a little lamb.
  11. Megadave = Best metal rhythm guitarist IMO. Malcolm = Best hard rock rhythm guitarist IMO. Too bad I never got to see him live :(
  12. Bing Crosby's rhythm guitar playing brother? I love Stevie Ray Vaughan's rhythm playing. I think his rhythm playing is even better than his lead playing (which is phenomenal IMO). Alex Lifeson also deserves a mention.
  13. Love me some Power Windows. Some of Geddy's best bass work and very imaginative guitar playing from Alex. Geddy's voice is nice and strong too. And a great mix. 9/10 for me,
  14. PeW was the album that made me love Rush. There's not a moment of the album I dislike and it sounds great. IMO at that point in their career Rush was the BEST band in the world.
  15. So true. COS tone (also found on Hemisheres) is defined in the Guitar Tone Dictionary as "Clarity....with balls". Agreed.
  16. Happy 40th Birthday Caress of Steel. I'll never forgot Alex's truly epic guitar tone on COS :)
  17. I have just been practicing some Jazz standards: Fly me to the moon (Bart Howard) C Jam Blues (Duke Ellington) Minor Swing (Django Reinhadt)
  18. 25/26 I sing and play guitar so I assume that helps. I think being pitch-aware is crucial in playing an instrument.
  19. Woohoohohoooohoowwwooo (neighbourhood cats start going crazy) This song is a perfect example of the times when a producer should have said "Geddy....sometimes with singing 'less is more". "I know you want to sing right now...but for the benefit of the song please don't". IMO the only listenable part of the song is Alex's solo.
  20. I see you are also in Australia. Do you have a link to a video of you playing The Larger Bowl? I'm very interested to see it if you do.
  21. Hemispheres vs Moving Pictures? Easy choice. Hemispheres. Now if the poll was Hemispheres vs Permanent Waves that would be a hard choice indeed!
  22. I was at the Vegas show as well. And yes Geddy certainly did "kill it". A great vocal performance from someone of any age.
  23. IMO My Favourite Headache album is perhaps Geddy's best 'recent' whole album vocal performace. Maybe it's because he wrote the lyrics (I think?) and didn't have to shoe-horn Neil's words in the music. Worst = CA Live DVD.
