QUOTE (Earthling2112 @ Sep 7 2012, 03:14 PM)I'm lit up with anticipation and settling in with some cold brews. Got my headphones on cranking some Rush. I wish I was there tonight. Rock and roll! Hope everyone there, and everyone here, has a great night. -
I thought the film was clever and engaging, but in the end a massive WTF!?! SPOILERS Some good scenes (the motorcycle jump into the barrier, the champagne drinking while the virgin was being attacked at the dock). Still, I don't think it made much sense. Gods underground? What gods? Why? If they are gods, what are they doing down there? And how did those two survive their attacks? Whatsisname from Dollhouse had a machete in his back....next thing you know he's just walking around fine, without so much as a hole in his shirt. I assume I missed something, because it couldn't possibly be that sloppy. And what happens to the zombies once they are out of the enclosure? I guess since the two idiots decided to let the world end it doesn't really matter, but you'd think they'd have a plan for that. Anyway, it held my attention, and I was really waiting for the payoff, but it didn't come.

QUOTE (rsmintzberg @ Aug 28 2012, 06:46 PM) QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ Aug 28 2012, 07:13 PM) My "guess" is we'll hear strings on: The Anarchist Halo Effect The Wreckers The Garden Mission Losing It I'm surprised it's only 6 songs (approximately) as rumored by FOH. I was expecting at least a couple more. I think Nobody's Hero is a prime candidate to be played with a string section. MANHATTAN PROJECT!!!

QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 25 2012, 07:34 PM) QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Aug 25 2012, 09:02 PM) QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Aug 25 2012, 11:59 AM) QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 25 2012, 11:56 AM) My Name Is Earl Loved that show. There is absolutely no reason NBC couldn't have given it one more season. What did they replace it with? The awful Outsourced, which flopped and was cancelled after a season. How NBC thought that garbage was gonna be a hit and replace Earl is mind boggling. Twin Peaks was excellent as well. But like everyone has said through the years, as soon as Laura's killer was revealed the show lost all it's luster and really went into weirder territory after that. I don't believe the show was meant to last that long anyways. The writers could only drag out the "who killed Laura Palmer?" storyline for so long before it would get old. I think they could've got at least another season out of it though. I'm STILL wondering who Earl Jr's real father was! Exactly. What a way to end!

QUOTE (Steevo @ Aug 3 2012, 01:38 PM) QUOTE (PolarizeMe @ Aug 4 2012, 03:13 AM)I mentioned that there was plans for a new Porcupine Tree DVD for release this year awhile back, now it's official. According to the latest KScope podcast the 2CD/DVD set will be released on November 5th and will be titled, Octane Twisted. Both the DVD and audio are from the May 2, 2010 show (KScope or whoever wrote the article below made an error; the actual date was April 30th) at the Riviera Theater in Chicago. http://starsdie.com/wp/porcupine-tree-octa...d-november-5th/ And this was the setlist for that show. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/porcupine-tr...l-73d4eefd.html Excellent! Thanks for that That was an excellent tour! The second leg was even better.

The Great Pink Floyd Thread
Unattractive Truth replied to rushgoober's topic in Music Of The Spheres
QUOTE (Powderfinger @ Jul 24 2012, 02:08 PM) I'm currently on a major Pink Floyd kick, and am interested in reading a new book on the band. So far I've only read Saucerful of Secrets. Is Comfortably Numb by Mark Blake considered the best book available? Thank you for any and all advice. I read that book last year. It's very good. Very thorough. A lot of emphasis on Syd (maybe too much at times). I think it's a fine read. -
