  1. One Little Victory is epic. I also love Ceiling Unlimited, Ghost Rider, and Earthshine. Having said that, I was disappointed with the sound when it first came out. The remixed version is much better.
  2. 17 Celsius (62 Fahrenheit) and raining. The rain is welcome here, but the Interior of BC needs it more. There are now 160 fires burning in the province, some of them quite large. Lots of people have lost their homes. This is the worst wildfire season in history for us, and I understand there are also many fires in Montana. Last month we were in Oregon and it was so smoky there too. We need lots of rain everywhere. Sadly, the places where the hurricanes are are getting the rain and they don't need it!
  3. I agree. Almost every song is depressing. The instrumentals, Working Them Angels, and possibly Far Cry are the only exceptions.
  4. I voted too. I love Geddy's comment - "which one is me - in the pictures, none of them are wearing glasses." LOL
  5. Nothing blows up. Usually contains a sappy love story. Usually a happy ending, but sometimes a tear-jerker.
  6. I used to work in retail and all that friendly how's your day going, how are you doing stuff is fake BS. Employees are trained to ask things like that in order to leave a good impression on the customer and give them a good experience so they'll come back again. I never knew many employees who actually cared how customers who were complete strangers really were doing. Believe it or not, that friendly chat does work on a lot of people. Whenever I work in a retail-type setting I engage the customers. I enjoy it, and they seem to as well. I figure, if you don't want that kind of interaction, you'll shop at Amazon or cook at home. I like going to stores where the cashiers are friendly and chatty. There's nothing worse than dealing with a cashier who doesn't say a word and looks like they really hate their job. I always try to smile and engage them in conversation and try to at least get a smile out of them. Who knows, maybe that will be the only smile they got all day.

  8. The Italian Job (old version) Ocean's Eleven (new version) The Score (with Robert de Niro) Catch me if you Can (Di Caprio) The Diamond Fleece (1992)
  9. You've Got Mail An American President Must Love Dogs An Affair to Remember Crossing Delancey
  10. Yes, Rush has been my favourite band since 1995. I listen to them all the time. That hasn't changed since they seem to be retired from touring. I simply love their music and I don't expect that to change any time soon. My other faves are: The Tragically Hip Led Zeppelin I love lots of other music too, but those are my favourite bands in the rock genre.
  11. I love Tom Cochrane and have never even heard of Barney Bentall. But because I like to check out and support Canadian artists, I will definitely have a listen to some of his music.
  12. Very sad. It seems you need someone living there round-the-clock, or it gets vandalized. I have seen some very sad examples in other abandoned buildings in remote locations, at least in my area of Canada. I don't understand why some people feel the need to trash places. I agree with what some other posters have said - It should be torn down - if the musicians who've recorded there aren't interested in restoring it, let it go. It has served its purpose.
  13. I like RTB better than Presto, although a few years ago, I didn't like either. With the exception of a couple of songs, I now love RTB. The opposite is true for Presto. I only like a couple of the songs.
  14. I can't produce a pic, but I'm sure I've seen him wearing a ring in concert DVDs. It's noticeable when they show close-ups of him playing keyboards.
  15. I had to vote no, even though some of my faves are on this album. The great songs: Dreamline Bravado Where's my Thing Ghost of a Chance The rest ot the songs are not up to Rush's awesome standard.
  16. Collateral Beauty. Starring Will Smith. Great movie.
  17. I agree. That song was the only disappointment for me.
  18. I haven't heard this term used in relation to Neil's songwriting, but one of the definitions of "pretentious" in Webster's dictionary is "Making demands on one's skill, ability or means." The lyrics are complex and force you to think - the lyrics are certainly on the intellectual side. It's hard to focus on Rush lyrics at a party, which is why it is conducive to listening while alone or in a quiet place with a friend. Secondly, the instrumental parts of the songs are complex and hard to play. Just my two cents worth. I don't know why the term pretentious would be specifically applied to the 70's stuff, though. Anyone have any other ideas?
