  1. Here's the thing: I really like some of the stuff about the Watchmaker and Anarchist backstories. Just don't find Owen or any of the carnival people particularly interesting or compelling. If Neil and Kevin had done the book as a Silmarillion-type "companion to the Clockwork Angels universe" thing instead of a literal adaptation of the album, it might have worked better. As it is, this is one of the only true artistic misfires of their career. Shame, since CA is probably their best album since Power Windows.
  2. So like, if I follow this, will I get set list updates in real time? I don't care about pics or videos.
  3. Haven't really seen a lot of discussion of the actual book yet. I'm about halfway done with it and I can't say I'm all that impressed. It basically reads like fan fiction, and a lot of the references to Rush lyrics come across as really obvious and forced in.
  4. Really, nothing? You'd think the dress rehearsals would have started by now.
  5. Neil's reading performance is fine I guess but I don't like the book that much so far.
  6. Never mind, it's on iTunes. Problem solved.
  7. I'd like to get a digital copy of the CA audiobook without purchasing the physical item from Amazon and waiting for it to ship. Is there anywhere I can legally buy a download of the file?
  8. Dropping Caravan and BU2B is a pretty dumb idea.
  9. It's not exactly like you're opening and playing a sealed butcher cover copy of the Beatles' Yesterday and Today.

  11. If a physical copy ends up in my possession before the 12th, I'll listen.
  12. I like how everyone hates S&A because they don't like Neil's take on politics and religion and now that he's going in the opposite direction people complain about that too.
  13. There's no Feedback option in the poll.
  14. The U2 slander in this thread is unsettling.

  16. I like how "It isn't up there with albums that are 30+ years old and drilled into the public consciousness" passes as "mediocre."
  17. "Conceptual leanings aside, Clockwork Angels isn't a prog album. Of course the musicianship is impeccable, but it's never showy. They keep a lid on extending songs beyond their natural life; only three songs exceed the seven-minute mark. And Neil Peart has never sounded looser or livelier as he races around his drum kit. It all adds up to a clear-sighted, modern rock record. "
  18. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ May 16 2012, 10:28 AM) I really dont want Rush to get mainstream popular....kind of dilutes their specialness to us fans. lol
  19. This is the second review to use the word "punk" to describe Headlong Flight, which is pretty hilarious.
