  1. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 27 2010, 10:35 AM) QUOTE (The Maples @ Nov 23 2010, 01:08 PM) I liked it, it was a bit rushed, but a I would say it was an improvement over Half Blood Prince. Really? See, I thought this was the first one since maybe the 2nd movie that WASN'T rushed, and that's because they did what they should have been doing since book 4 - make them into two movies. The movies for Goblet, Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince were way too rushed and way too much was cut. This was the first one in a long time where I felt like they got it right. EXCELLENT movie. Can't wait for part two! Agreed wholeheartedly.
  2. So, are you guys saying for the New Orleans show I should just drive down there and buy my tickets in person and not do presale tickets? I don't mind my presale tickets for Dublin (not the greatest seats, but not the worst. I could have been in section C, but I wanted center seats). I remember when I bought Tool tickets I waited until the last minute, got them online for $50 and was in the mosh pit right by the stage. I still don't know how I did that.
  3. Of those choices? Harry Potter. Avatar needs to die. We all saw Dances With Wolves, we all saw KC's mullet; it doesn't end pretty. I love the Indy films, but the fourth one... no. NO. They don't need to make a fifth one. Stark Trek... meh. I watched the old ones and never got into the new stuff. Inception is a runner up for excitement, although I think it was over wrought with philosophical talk. Like The Matrix. I think Paris, TX was more philosophically astounding. But still, cool film and hopefully the sequel will be good. I'm actually really looking forward to Blue Valentine. It basically looks like an American remake of Scenes from a Marriage, but still... it looks very good.
  4. QUOTE (rtrushfan @ Nov 29 2010, 12:57 AM) QUOTE (garbo @ Nov 29 2010, 12:24 AM) NEW ORLEANS!!! Eff yeah I will be there!!!! Two Rush concerts in one summer!!! Damn, I'm going to be so broke... Hopefully I'll be there in NOLA too! It's a much closer drive than going to Houston this year, but so worth it!! Heck yes!!! We should have a get together down on Decatur or Canal or something. I'm not a big New Orleans fan (I don't know, it smells funky and being a small girl, people try to pick me up and run off with me), but it would be cool to meet other Rush fans.
  5. QUOTE (tkdryan @ Nov 29 2010, 12:36 AM) Im going to Austin, any one from DFW area going? Hey Garbo maybe i should hit New Orleans Coincidentally I lived in Austin for eight years and my Mom still lives there! I should hit Austin too... which would just further the debt. I say everyone should come to New Orleans. I mean... we have Voodoo shops! BTW, are the tickets going to be roughly the same prices (as the Europe tickets)? Just so I know what I'm going to be paying for.
  6. This past week has been a shit fest. I can't even get into it right now.
  7. NEW ORLEANS!!! Eff yeah I will be there!!!! Two Rush concerts in one summer!!! Damn, I'm going to be so broke...
  8. Yesterday my mom told me she's in congestive heart failure. I know she's had heart problems since her staph infection in 2007, but... what's worse is that she's known for a year.
  9. QUOTE (FoxxiStarr @ Nov 25 2010, 11:03 AM) Congrats Garbo - so happy for ya Thanks!
  10. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Nov 24 2010, 05:42 PM) QUOTE (KillerInstinct @ Nov 24 2010, 05:35 PM) They're gonna get some leprechauns to dance around on stage Riverdance and Rush, on stage together at last. Yessss. If it was in the UK I would say it was Spinal Tap. Dayum. That would be... A-MAZing. Or at least hilarious.
  11. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Nov 25 2010, 10:33 AM) QUOTE (garbo @ Nov 25 2010, 10:15 AM) I got my tickets for Ireland and I'm SUPER HAPPY!!!!! And kind of scared. I've only been to Canada, eh. So psyched for you, that is going to be one amazing trip! Did you get good seats? Not the greatest. Section L, row 41. The initial seats were section G, row 20, but I wanted center seats. I should have gotten up in the middle of the night to get them! But still... I'm psyched. Ireland AND Rush!
  12. I've seen it twice and love it. I've read the books about a dozen times, and although I'm not a huge fantasy fan (I love Tolkien and Lewis though), I have to say I got pretty hooked on Rowling. I also love her literary allusions to Tolkien, Malory, Milton, Irish folklore, and others. Like Tolkien, I just really respect her. She's not for everyone, but I think she's earned her place in YA literature. As far as remaining true to the book, it's by far the best out of the series. I thought it was exceptionally well done, very reminiscent of Nazi Germany (which is what makes Rowling stand out from Tolkien and Lewis) and very well adapted, which is hard to do. It's not my favorite of the books (my favorite is the sixth, but that stupid movie was awful), but I really enjoyed it as a film and look forward to the second part. Radcliffe still can't act, but Alan Rickman can. Oh yeah, and Ralph Fiennes. OMG. He must play Satan in PL. AMAZING. And look out for the random Nick Cave song. It's awesome and random.
  13. Alright, so I just paid roughly the same price I paid for Muse. Granted, I'll be in section L, dead center, row 41. Not the greatest (my first option was row 20, section G, and although I love Geddy... eh I want to be dead center). For Muse (not at Voodoo), I paid the same price and was in the last row. How long has Rush been around in comparison with Muse? I'm not going to complain.
  14. I got my tickets for Ireland and I'm SUPER HAPPY!!!!! And kind of scared. I've only been to Canada, eh.
  15. My roommate bought me awesome gifts, including ZOMBIES VS UNICORNS and Stewie's Guide to Taking Over the World. Be prepared. Also Rush tickets on sale, however, I still haven't bought my tickets for Dublin because I'm not sure I'm going. However, I may see them in the US. Ugh. I need to decide.
  16. I still haven't bought tickets because I'm still debating. Don't ask. Yesterday was a fiasco.
  17. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Nov 23 2010, 12:22 AM) QUOTE (garbo @ Nov 22 2010, 05:29 PM) I think this dude is trying his hand at sarcasm. I saw him posting elsewhere and made a feeble pass with some Ayn Rand/Sebastian Bach referencing. It was lame-o, but I'll give him a green card for the shtick. I smiled. Hey, I like it when people try. Yes, Objectivist is definitely one of those guys who isn't nearly as smart/funny/clever/intellectual as he thinks he is. When those guys try sarcasm, it's usually pretty funny...but for the wrong reasons. At least we observers can enjoy it for those wrong reasons.
  18. QUOTE (That One Guy @ Nov 22 2010, 11:06 PM) It isn't obvious? If you can afford it, go to all three! Damn, debt here I come. I might choose two out of the three though.
  19. I feel so conflicted. I'm going to Ireland this summer (well, I haven't bought my ticket yet), so I have that, however, I live near one of the tour places, PLUS my sister lives near another. I don't know what to do.
  20. Dear world, YOU WENT OVER MY HELMET?! That is all. Me. P.S. Maybe I should forego the Dio costume and dress up as Dark Helmet next year for Halloween. Hm. Dilemmas.

OMG, let us worship Andrea Martin's genius
  22. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Nov 22 2010, 08:20 PM) QUOTE (The Objectivist @ Nov 22 2010, 08:07 PM) I hope you're not implying that men who like other men are incapable of being manly. So far, I'd say you're not doing so well in this thread. But you are somewhat entertaining, so by all means keep going. I'd like to see a train wreck by the end of the night. My thoughts exactly. I'm waiting for it... waiting.... waiting...
