  1. QUOTE (Gilbertk @ Apr 19 2012, 09:11 AM) QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Apr 19 2012, 08:42 AM) As long as they have something to say, musically and lyrically, they're gonna say it. Even though there are fewer years ahead of them than behind them, that's no reason for them to hang it up. As long as their health/physical condition allows them to play, they're gonna PLAY!! True but.. Neil's daughter is growing up and so are Geddy and Alex's kids (even though they are much older than Neil's little girl) and as they get older maybe they want to spend more time with their families than in the studio and on the road. Or perhaps dedicated to their other hobbies.. Neil traveling and writing and Alex with his golfing and club (no pun intended). You speak the truth. I can definitely see Neil being the first to call it quits, as his need to be with his family will come to dominate. It just seems to me that their future as a band will depend mostly on if they still have something to say as a band. If they feel that they have unfinished business, that they still have that drive to say something as RUSH, then I can see them continuing the journey. And what an amazing journey it's been.....
  2. QUOTE (Snaked @ Apr 19 2012, 08:51 AM) 33 dates would lead me to believe there will be another leg in 2013. Too many cities not on the list including (but not limited to): Denver Salt Lake City Milwaukee Manhattan Fort Lauderdale/Miami Raleigh The list goes on and on with the cities that arent represented on this leg. I'm guessing we'll see a minimum of 37 shows in 2013 Agree 100%. There will be a second leg. Minneapolis tickets go on sale Friday, May 4th, 10:00 am CST. I don't have to work until 11:00.....WOO HOO!!!!!
  3. OK, so I've listened to Headlong Flight about 20 times now, and it's grown on me a LOT. I really, really like it! But I do see how radio stations will want to edit it. Quite frankly, there's a lot that could/should be edited, as it's fairly redundant in places. The last 60 seconds, IMO, could be cut. The band has been making a habit of putting in redundant verses/choruses at the end. It's just not necessary, IMO. The official lyric video really compliments the song. The nostalgic theme, the B/W images.....it's GREAT.....
  4. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Apr 19 2012, 08:39 AM) what's commercial radio? It's what existed before the Clear Channel mobsters took over the Business.
  5. I can see how many fans are seeing it as a farewell song, but I'm not so sure. The guys will be turning 59/60 years old this year, so they are naturally reflecting on their lives, careers, and life in general. As long as they have something to say, musically and lyrically, they're gonna say it. Even though there are fewer years ahead of them than behind them, that's no reason for them to hang it up. As long as their health/physical condition allows them to play, they're gonna PLAY!!
  6. Now that video took a LOT of editing prowess..... EXCELLENT.
  7. QUOTE (presto123 @ Apr 19 2012, 04:20 AM) It's official. The Indy date that was originally scheduled for outdoors is now an indoors show. This gives a lot of credence that the orchestra rumor might be true. With all due respect, a change in venue is not evidence of the band employing a symphony orchestra for the Show.
  8. QUOTE (jdove @ Apr 18 2012, 09:56 PM) I love how heavy it is. I love the intro. I love Geddy's bass. I love how hard Neil is playing. Like how raw Alex sounds. Vocals sound quite good. Lots of energy and pretty good high notes. Not much of a memorable melody. Guitar work isn't quite that interested. Song is pretty repetitive. Could have done it in 4-5 minutes. Bridge to the solo is a bit weird and random, and I lose the feel of the song during the weird talking part. I'm excited how raw and heavy it sounds, but overall wish they improved the song writing. I like the intention though. And Geddy is just rippen on bass! So, I like it, but feel it could have been better. Not quite in the "epic" category. Jim I agree with most of this. The song is more chord bashing than melody. Huge amount of energy and passion. So far, all three songs are like this. I'm gonna let it grow one, just like I do with them all. So far, so good......
  9. Go up to Ms. Wright, introduce yourself as "Wesley", and compliment her on her "perfect breasts"........ No, wait........
  10. Nothing is working on my iPhone. No flash player, no YouTube. gotta wait until I get home......
  11. QUOTE (Xanadoood @ Apr 18 2012, 01:18 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 18 2012, 01:15 PM) QUOTE (Silas Lang @ Apr 18 2012, 01:13 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 18 2012, 12:53 PM) Songs that arent catchy dont get a lot of radio play. Most people arent impressed by busy playing unless they're musicians. The average listener likes songs that sound good to them and great melodies are what does that. That was my complain about this song. The vocals are so forgettable. Not really. This post, however, is entirely forgettable. You're right, noone likes good melodies these days. You could say the same about The Mars Volta and even Radiohead...I cant understand a damn word they are saying half the time, but the music is interesting. That's really all that matters for me..this isn't Adele we are talking about I understand what you mean, but IMO, one of Rush's best qualities is that you can understand what Geddy is singing. Nearly every single song.......
  12. QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Apr 17 2012, 03:37 PM)QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Apr 16 2012, 10:20 PM) I remember when it came out. I was fully 100% absolutely locked into Rush-Worship mode. I saw them as larger than life, super-mystics whose music and lyrics sent me into other dimensions of consciousness.....and I ain't exaggeratin'.... Then Signals was released. Subdivisions was AMAZING. The texture and the power of the guitar + synth chords, especially at the end, made me play air guitar and air drums more than 2112 ever did..... Such glorious thunder!!! The guitar work of Analog Kid blew me away. I could not fathom how Alex could play that fast..... But then, the next songs told me that something was now different.....not in a bad way, but simply different. Chemistry and Digital Man were definitely something new to consider. The bass playing in Digital Man was incredible. My first experience with The Weapon was one of wonder and confusion. That was the strangest drum beat I had ever heard! New World Man was DEFINITELY different. Many of my friends said that they hated it, as it was so "New Wave". Losing It was really a gear-crunching song; that took a while to appreciate. Countdown, I thought, was awesome. As I was into everything NASA, I loved the tribute to the space shuttle, even though the song was pretty tame. I loved the guitar riff. Overall, I knew that Signals was fundamentally different than the last few albums, and the Tour was different, too. The Show was scaled down, but I didn't feel cheated at all. At times, it was just the three guys on stage, with a single spot light on each of them, and I thought it was COOL..... I felt excatly the same way. Absolutely the same. Gr8 minds think alike.....
  13. QUOTE (g under p @ Apr 17 2012, 10:16 AM)Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go. Well, officer, I only wanted to get to Ray & Sally's Saloon before you got there and drank all the booze...... Can I go now?
  14. One of the three winners of the $656 million-dollar MegaMillions jackpot is to come forward in Illinois. The winner MUST particpate in a news conference. [From the Illinois Lottery website]: Q: Can I avoid having my name released if I am a winner? A: To assure other players that prizes are paid to winners, the Lottery makes public the name, home city and amount won. We will not, however, release the addresses or telephone numbers of winners. Multi-million dollar winners must participate in a one-time news conference, but we'll always respect your wishes of privacy as much as possible. I don't know about anyone else, but I find this rule to be grossly unfair and intrusive. Other states don't require news conferences, as they respect the person's privacy (which should naturally trump the Lottery commission's desire for publicity). It seems to me that Illinois doesn't give a hoot about the winner's privacy.

  17. Listen as the wind blows From across the great divide Voices trapped in yearning Memories trapped in time The night is my companion And solitude my guide Would I spend forever here And not be satisfied [Chorus] And I would be the one To hold you down Kiss you so hard I'll take your breath away And after I'd wipe away the tears Just close your eyes dear Through this world I've stumbled So many times betrayed, Trying to find an honest word, To find the truth enslaved, Oh you speak to me in riddles and You speak to me in rhymes My body aches to breathe your breath, Your words keep me alive [Chorus] Into this night I wander, It's morning that I dread, Another day of knowing of The path I fear to tread, Oh, into the sea of waking dreams I follow without pride, Nothing stands between us here And I won't be denied [Chorus] I'll hold you down Kiss you so hard I'll take your breath away And after I'd wipe away the tears Just close your eyes http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jVaXVwZgj4g/SKI4XHEjyWI/AAAAAAAAA2Q/NYD-MvRnrxk/s400/1003_sarah_mclachlan_b.jpg
  18. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Apr 16 2012, 09:36 PM)Tommy. But I like Quadrophenia even more. I have them at dead even. Quadrophenia has a few more powerhouse songs, but Tommy has the edge in instrumentals. Overture and Underture are truly majestic. Love Reign O'er Me is about the greatest final song of an album ever. They both have to rank in the Top-10 of every Concept Album list. They just have to.....

  21. Both films are painful to watch. Tommy is one of the greatest rock creations ever. Sgt. Pepper is great, but it cannot compare to Tommy....

The saddest part of this bit of news is that when/if it ever gets released, it'll sell 5 million copies. And the skank widow will try to get her stinking, drug-addicted, skank hands on every penny......
  24. Just finished watching the whole documentary. Impressive. 160,000 watts maximum output......WOW..... Rule #1: You DON'T mess with your tour bus.....
