  1. I'm f***ing excellent! You don't think I'm f***ing excellent? 7,340 people find Treeduck excellent! 244 people find me excellent! ONLY 244 FIND ME EXCELLENT!?!?!!?! WHAT IN THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL!!! I mean seriously, if Treeduck was more excellent than me, (and he isn't) he sure as shit isn't over 7000 times more excellent than me! I want my excellent numbers to rise from the ashes like the mother f***ing Phoenix!!! and I don't see no Treeduck emoticon on the list? I mean how excellent is he really? Huh?

  2. Money can buy security, which for some means happiness. Sure money eliminates stress and worry to a degree. Both things to be happy about, but true happiness comes from inside. Its a feeling that goes beyond mere security. Plenty of rich people are depressed. Plenty of rich people take drugs. Plenty of rich people commit suicide. Some may think money solves all problems and calms your inner demons. It doesn't. When someone has all the money they need and they are still not content and happy inside where do they go from there? In my estimation, money makes certain aspects of life easier to deal with but in no way does it buy happiness. In my opinion one thing brings happiness on the highest level possible. Love. To feel true love, and to be able to love others unselfishly. Without my wife and daughter I don't think I could ever be happy no matter how much money I had. They make my life worth living, not money. In conclusion...money can't stop you from falling ill. It can't heal someone you love and protect them. It can make you feel loved, nor can it provide you with the ability to love. It can make you feel more secure, but it can not buy happiness.

  5. Well it's certainly been a loooong time since I've last been online here, but I just felt I had to say this. I prefer the pre-remix Vapor Trails. I think a lot of the people who were disliking it may have been blinded by their own expectations of what Rush should sound like. Relatively it's the most different sounding album they've made. It's a little harsh sounding at times, but I love it. Alex's tone is pretty rough but I think it adds a certain emotional grit to the songs that work well with the themes of loss and pain. Listening with my nice wrap-around headphones now, I honestly think it sounds good, and that the songs are well crafted with some of the best rhythms and melodies Rush has written. When I listen to the remix it feels like a lot of the dynamics have been taken out. You used to be able to hear the energy of the songs shift as certain parts swelled, exploded, and soared between the changing parts, and now it just all feels flat to me. And I don't like changes to the vocals and lead parts. Anyone else feel this way?

  6. You're crazy. :D The remix may be a little less impactful at times, but it seems far more dynamic to me. And it doesn't hurt my ears.

  10. easy - vote for tick. I'm more afraid of ticks than ducks. A tick can give you Lyme disease and shit.... don't want to angry up one of them. What's the worst a duck in a tree can do? poop on you? Not afraid of that punk-ass duck! Brilliant deductive reasoning! LISTEN TO THIS MAN PEOPLE, HE IS WISE!

  14. While I agree that if you are a miserable person without money you will be a miserable person with money, the truth remains that money can buy happiness. Let me 'splain. I have an amazing wife and three great (truly great) kids. I am very happy that they are in my life and that they are all blessed with certain traits and talents. Good looking kids (from their mother) and amazing athletes/ musicians. Where money could buy happiness is that I could afford to nurture these talents without skimping on other aspects. By sending my son to a skating clinic that he really wanted to go to to improve his game. To travel with the team on tournaments that require hotels. He is usually the only kid who has to miss a few of those tournaments. He had one last year in Lake Placid where a parent was gracious enough to drive him up and let him stay in their room... but I missed it and LOVE watching him play. My youngest is an absolute star. 5 years old (in his 3rd season) and plays in the 8 and under division. Highest scorer on his team this season. A AAA team has approached him to recruit him (yes, at 5 years old) which is how you start your journey to top 10 college play. I pay over $1000 a season for his fees now. AAA would cost $4500 per season. No can do. I have missed quite a few games and my oldest son's shows (killer guitar player) due to having to work overtime to afford all of this. It takes me away on weekends to a different state. It helps pay for all of it but takes me away from the people I do it for. I know what you mean about being happy and it coming from inside but if you are miserable with the money you need to nurture your children and still spend time with them then, you're right. You are just a miserable pr**k. In my case, the only thing in the way of my complete happiness is money. My wife and I got into some financial trouble years ago due to a job shift and poor economy (I was a self employed contractor). We never recovered. If Bill Gates sent me a check for $20,000 life would be good forever. We make decent money but can't get our heads above water. Sorry, maybe this was too much info but keeping it inside gives me a headache.

  15. I haven't heard the remixed version and I probably never will. I've always enjoyed this album the way it is. The lyrics are emotional and powerful and the mix I think, albeit by accident, is a good representation of that period in their career. It's tumultuous and sporadic and not always together in the best way. For something that obviously wasn't delibrate, I think it carries a lot of weight. Great record, by the way.

  16. Agree 100%. I even respect the fact that Alex did no solos on this album because he didn't feel comfortable putting himself out there in the spotlight in their time of emotional healing. Neil's most emotional lyrics ever.. The fact that it doesn't sound like "Rush should sound like" has more to do with just the mixing.. It's not a typical Rush album. Its a very special one!

Please go to this link and like his post so that his self esteem increases. 19. I'll go with By-Tor. 2112 is certainly up there but the parts included are pretty close to the album. By-Tor on the other hand, explores some new kick-ass territory.

  26. Another Narpski!! I've never had one either, because I loathe cornbread. Yes, I grew up in the South but despise one of its signature foods. Cornbread does suck and so does tea. There I said it. To bad, You both are missing out. :D :dweez: :D I love cornbread. I make a damn fine cornbread too... in a cast iron skillet! This is especially for troutman and x1yyz for breaking my chops over this. A special thanks to my wife for bringing this corn dog home special for me as a surprise due to me telling about all about what's been going on in the forum regarding my never having eaten one. Pics and it did happen...... :)http://s8.postimg.org/ilqp3xcit/20140926_155206.jpg It was ok but I doubt I will ever have another one. A standard hot dog on a bun has been a staple of mine for years and most likely will continue to be. At least I tried..... :D

  33. I've often said this before. Money is freedom. With money, you can afford to do the things that you want to do. You can do where you want to go, you can experience what you want to experience, and can do what you want to do. If I had a great deal of freedom to chase my dreams, I would certainly be happier. ;)

Sorry, maybe this was too much info but keeping it inside gives me a headache. I'm with you there. I have a friend who is a firefighter and his daughter is an amazing dancer, son amazing hockey player. They basically spent every cent they had above shelter and food to pay for their activities. We had them over for dinner at least once a month... figured every little bit helped. My kids were always into music, so not nearly as expensive (yet) as his kids passions. My son is working now, so the new guitar he paid for... Just keep in mind, life is NOT about having everything you desire. It just doesn't work that way. Most people can't have everything they want. You have to live within your means and make concessions. I provide plenty for my daughter. She doesn't lack much. She is quite loved and has plenty of the comforts she desires. That being said their are things her friends have that she does not. We make no apologies for that. Some of her friends live in beautiful homes twice the size of my own, and have a lot of material possessions. At the end of the day, so what? She knows full well what she has. She knows what she has outweighs what she does not. She knows she has two parents who love and absolutely adore her, and THAT is priceless! Everything else is nice but that is what is most important. She gets it and I'm proud of her.

  36. Once it seemed there would always be threads to mark such milestones. But ages passed and perhaps Your_Lion thought at last his posts had never been! So he'd burned the wagon and chained the mule... the past was all denied. :| ...But then Babycat came along and saved the day with this thread! Whew. Congrats, Y_L! Let's celebrate this momentous occasion with some classic Tull. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyscN9A7EaA

  38. What's his favorite band? He doesn't really listen to music (??!!) but he probably likes the Eagles the best. Unfortunately, I have to agree with The Dude here http://youtu.be/-JlmvtAHhnc Who doesn't listen to music? I would go insane! I didn't for about 25 years. I had it on in the car most of the time but that was it. Never bought any. Never at home.... How in the world did you do that? Listening to music at home has been my stress reliever since forever :guitar: ...love to crank it up and sing in the car too

  42. I think you're missing the point. He'd sit so his last game is in Yankee Stadium. If you heard him after the Yanks were eliminated, you wouldn't say he wasn't accepting disappointment with class or that he's abandoning the team. If anything, the message was very clearly the opposite. He deflected virtually all questions about how he felt about last this and last that, and talked about how the he and the team needed to give their fans more. I haven't seen polling on this, but I think a lot of Yankees fans want his last game to be in pinstripes in the house that Jeter built. Having said that, I don't mind one way or the other. I guess I lean towards him playing just because I think that the Red Sox fans will show some class and give him a send-off, and I simply want to see him a few more times. But if he doesn't play, it won't be for any of the reasons you stated. Of course it's the reason I stated. He wants his last game to be in Yankee Stadium. But the Yankees' last game this year isn't in Yankee Stadium. Take it up with the schedule makers, but your team has three more games. Joe DiMaggio famously said he played every game because there might be a kid in the stands who hadn't seen him play before. If it's for the reasons I stated, and you seem to acknowledge, then it's not because he's not accepting disappointment with not making the playoffs or that he's abandoning his team for the same. Is he better than his backup? If yes then he's abandoning his team by not playing. If no then he should have sat down sooner. Maybe. Or maybe they want to get someone else playing time. Or maybe he just wants his last game to be in Yankee Stadium. But my money's on: the last time he takes the field he wants to be playing against a major league team.

  44. Rush in Rio is a great DVD to buy. Since you love live performances this is a nice mix of songs old and new. The crowd is electric which adds to the viewing. It also comes with a nice documentary which will cue you in a little on why we all love the band and have been buying their records and attending concerts for (in my case) 30years.
