Neil was METAL in 1973, too

and then idk what happened, I need an adult to explain this to me.

You are in the wrong forum.

I would think that would have been evident to her when no one stepped up to the plate.

;)

Yeah I suppose I actually could have done that instead of being snarky....

but thats just not very adult of me.

Didn't Geddy say in an interview that Neil had short hair at the time and he just didn't look like rock star material or something like that?

Yeah I read a similar Geddy comment on that first Peart meeting.

Assuming this pic labeled "Neil London" was exactly taken then, THEN it shows Peart in the early 70s, a year or two prior to his Rush audition.

The "parts manager" pic is probably closer to what Neil looked like come Rush audition time.

They sound way too loud and METAL for Neil!

:haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz:

Pat!

I must say openly on a public forum that people who proclaim to be true RUSH FANS and HATE the first RUSH record are FUKKING POSERS!

I too have a shitload of boots and cd reissues of all live early Rush shite with John on the kit.

His fuckking snare work alone blows away Neil's.

I am no one when it comes to drumming but I can play all of Neil's material.

I rarely play to the first Rush record.

I am a brainwashed idiot.

Obsessed with the pesky Peart percussion obsession.

Whatever.

Rutsey was fukking KILLER.

I don't even remember what this thread is about!

"Fly By Night" ruined RUSH.

Well I mean "Caress Of Steel" did. Mercury almost kicked this hack ballsack band to the consensus curb!

Thank GOD MARY JANE for "2112"

"2112" backwards is well "2112"

2+1+1+2 = 6

That's 666

Satanic band. Satanic Starman.

The Rutsey Year or Years were just straight ahead rock and fukking roll. The first Rush album is one of the greatest heavy rock records ever made.

FUKK UNLEDDED ZEPPELIN! I hate the comparison to the first RUSH record.

You guys and gals can have your boring overplayed Led Zeppelin shite.

Don't get me wrong, I love Zep, but they are so boring to my ears.

The first RUSH record blows away Zep.

Could you label me a Rush Whore?

A Rush Snob?

A Rush Homer Simpson?

A Rush Addict?

A Rush Apologist?

A Rush Egooist?

A Rush Narcissist?

Didacts And Narpets!

That's me MO FO'S!!!!

RUSH RULES!

My thumbs are bleeding tonight from playing Rush music.

I love the pain!

I have you ever seen "Whiplash?"

Well you better ASAP!!

It is confirmed that Neil is actually a Ghost fan.

All of you Fanboi Fools and Fangirl Fanatics are correct.

Rush is indeed going to tour again. Three cities. Toronto. New York. LA.

In order to accommodate Neil, Ghost will be opening for Rush in 2017.

Yep!

Rush will actually have an opener. What a wonderful selection.

I knew it!!

"From The Pinnacle To The Pit."

So goes the Rush Legacy...............................

The debut is pretty awesome to my ears. I have often wondered what the band could have become without Peart.

I doubt as great as the Rush we know now (I far prefer Fly By Night), but I do think it could have been special.

His future band mates describe his arrival that day as somewhat humorous, as he arrived in shorts, driving a battered old Ford Pinto with his drums stored in trashcans. Peart felt the entire audition was a complete disaster. While Lee and Peart hit it off on a personal level (both sharing similar tastes in books and music), Lifeson had a less favourable impression of Peart. After some discussion, Lee and Lifeson accepted Peart's maniacal British style of drumming, reminiscent of The Who's Keith Moon.

Neil was into Keith Moon, Alex into Jimmy Page and Geddy was Janis Joplin playing John Entwistle

Growing up sucks

.

.

I wonder, if asked, what he'd say about Keith Moon today?

I don't think there's any doubt he still loves Moon...his set up on R30 &R40 was designed as a Moon tribute...and ElDarko has a trigger pad with the Who bullseye pattern....he still remembers his influences...

Keith Moon was a good drummer? Not challenging anyone (how could I? ), just asking. :)
