Best Sounding Rush Album

So, let's take a break from fave song/album, and look at how each record sounds. SOUNDS. As in, Presto's SOUND needs a bit more bottom end, and could use some compression. Vapour Trails' SOUND sucks, and that's why it is not on the list. (Who could possibly think VT has the best sound? )

 

Anyway, what Rush album do you think SOUNDS the best?

 

(Note: All albums from Rush to Roll The Bones are the remastered versions. All others are the regular versions.)

I love the sound on AFTK for some reason

signals. most natural and straight ahead. the bass was fat and clean up the center, the drums crisp and natural( god i love the snare on digital man), alexs tone was just right.

I seem to like the Power Windows sound. (Not that that's a biased vote or anything! )

I'll always vote for Caress of Steel...for some reason, the cymbals sound so natural, and present! But everything else is so balanced, that it's a nice album to listen to!

I voted for GUP, it's got a nice balance of synth/bass/drums/cymbals/guitar in my opinion.

Now this is a very difficult poll, as well as highly subjective...

 

I would say, from a production standpoint, sonically PeW and MP are at the top... I voted for PeW...

Permanent Waves has a very clean and clear sound, thats why I like it, the bass is very crisp.

I've always really enjoyed the sound of MP. Has a nice dark, warm analog sound; great mix and I love Alex's tone and Neil's snare just has a wonderful pop to it.

 

Someone mentioned AFTK, I agree this one has always been very pleasing to my ears also but sounds more raw and different than MP.
