Lucas
Growing up in New Jersey in the 1980s is an experience I will cherish forever The music was absolutely atrocious, the bands were ridiculous, but in retrospect, this era will never come close to being duplicated or topped .. Cable and satellite TV, VCRs, DIY videos, wigs, U68, Uncle Floyd The 1970s cheese has NOTHIN' on the 1980s You got something to add ?? LET'S HAVE IT !! And yes, these are real, and this is some serious ****

Lucas
I hesitate to list TT Quick as cheese, as they were a good band - probably the biggest NJ band on the circuit at the time, and one of, if not the first, band to be signed to Megaforce Records Mark Tornillo went on to sing in Accept They are definitely part of 1980s NJ Metal lore

Lucas
Is Southside Johnny cheese or is he some sort of a Fake God up there? oh boy I never liked him .. He is actually at the bottom of the list as he doesn't even have that endearing kitsch factor going .. He has his crowd, but .. well ... ya know

Me too - in the 70's and post '85 - most of my time was in nyc. Maybe it depended what part of NJ you were from. The metro area was far from cheesy. custom55
Spent a few summers in the early 80's down at Manasquan at the Osprey and Leggetts. Remember going into the bars but not coming out. Here's a Jersey shore band from the 80's.
