Prog rock even though only the third through seventh RUSH albums probably qualify. However, along with early Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and maybe one or two others RUSH are the band that got me into more adventurous and synth based rock(sometimes heavy sometimes not but often going beyond the barriers of short radio friendly tunes).
