The Jelly Jam

Great stuff!

I prefer the first album to the second.

You should check out Ty's other side project, Platypus.

They released two albums, "Platypus" and "When Pus Comes to Shove".

Platypus consists of...Ty Tabor, John Myung, Derek Sherinian & Rod Morgenstein.

So this band has an extra dude than Jelly Jam. How different can they be?

Platypus was a bit more experimental, with longer/wackyer songs, whereas The Jelly Jam is more straight alt rock.

Derek is super talented and alone raises the bar for the entire group.

The show was awesome! I took a picture with John Myung, but when it was time to approach the other two, this dude came with a huge pile of Dixie Dregs and Kings X albums for them to sign, so I left. There were around 40 people there, sadly...but shows of this size offer a unique opportunity, so I'm glad I went!

I don't listen to The Jelly Jam albums as much as KXM, but there are plenty of tasty songs off the last two albums. I'll have to give them a listen again.

I'd see King's X or any of the side bands in a second if I had the chance.

That KXM album is leaps and bounds better than ANY jelly jam record, IMHO. ;)

Which KXM album? I actually haven't heard all of the first one...I'm waiting until I finally buy the CD. But as far as Scatterbrain goes, it's my favorite album by any band in years. It beats all Jelly Jam and the last couple of King's X, imo.

Scatterbrain, I wasn't even aware there was another.

I wasn't either...came out in 2014.

Once I got past Ty's excessively nasal voice, I was able to enjoy this band a lot more. My favourites of the show were Reliving, Memphis and Care.

Care is a favorite of mine.
