Alright...here we go again....I just received a new 1:32 scale aircraft, A Supermarine Spitfire Mk. VIII by Tamiya, according to enthusiasts, the most Beautiful Mk in the series.

Back in the day, '81, i got into a 1:32 scale binge, buying 1 Monogram P-51 D, then a bunch of Revell kits, A P-38 J, A F4U-D 1, A P-40 E, a Mitsubishi A6M5 a, and a Hawker Hurricane Mk 1.

Interestingly enough, Revell now OWNS Monogram, along with all of their Molds. All genres, cars, planes, boats, etc. and a BUNCH of them NEED UPDATES! Back in '81 there wasn't a bunch of details except for the Monogram P-51, and Tamiya comes through with ALL THE CANDY with this release! Photo-etched seat belts and engine details, as well as a extremely detailed instrument panel, like the one I have pictures of for the P-51 D by Tamiya earlier in this thread. This is only the second British produced plane I've done in 1:32 scale, but undoubtedly one of the most important in WW II. Gonna finish the two vehicles first though...

Adding to my kit list. When I was like 4 or so, My Dad got me a 'non -rigid' plastic F9F Cougar in red, just a static plastic toy, about the size of an adult hand. Well, I found a model producer that makes a model of that Aircraft. 'Fisher Model and Pattern'. It turns out that the owner told me his father worked for Lockheed, and when he was young, his Dad would bring him toy aircraft when he came back from his trips, and he had that same toy! Since he's only two years older than me, that is TOTALLY POSSIBLE! That toy, got into my brain, since jets were all the rage back then....now this person owns a company that makes high quality models of this Aircraft which we BOTH ADORE! He also makes a large scale F7U CUTLASS! I had a model of that plane back in the day that I built, LINDBERG again. Now I will have BOTH of my favorite Jets!

Have a lot of models almost done and some curing. Some will be for sale on ebay whilst some will be planted around the village for people to find in a "ponypack" and to take home free.

One day at a time.

This is excellent, Dweezil, and giving stuff away is awesome! Please don't be discouraged if some people don't show surprise and kindness to your efforts!

As for the P-51 D, I picked up the pilot's seat last night and examined it, and I have to finish This step in order to go on. It ignited my passion for building again, plus the two new models I recently received, I'm raring to go!

Now I have to go back and re do all these posts, so everyone will know what the HECK I'm talking about....someday.....anyway, I'm back on the P-51 D Mustang after all this time, and to give you an idear of the size of some of these parts, [this one is Photo-Etched, a seat belt] here's one that I dropped and had to get down and find earlier...

http://i.imgur.com/H1sv7df.jpg

This is the left side seat belt, painted and ready to attach. That's my INDEX finger next to it Well, I was trying to 'wrap' it around to make it look as if it was laying naturally in the pilot's seat, and it detached and went to blend in with the tan carpeting in my apartment. Whatever you may think, I seem to have a knack for finding these tiny pieces of plastic/metal on this floor...thanks to my DNA...The part was retrieved [you see the proof] and now awaits the super glue to dry so I can finish the cockpit/flight deck and start on the interior of the sides of the fuselage...

This is the version I'm hoping to complete. I've done this pilot's earlier Mustang, "Petie 2nd" in 1/48th scale already, and it's sitting in the old model area because The canopy is missing. probably in the box it was packed in...

Ok, just added the last two things for the cockpit, two brace/struts for the actual chair, painted them and no big deal. Now it's time to start the INTERIOR of the fuselage and such...I'll keep up with pictures!

Back Burner for awhile. Still haven't figured out the problem with the PE cockpit parts....Just received a 1/32 Northrup P-61 Black Widdow. Back in the early '60s, they used to have bags of miniature multi color Aircraft that were in the military. One piece models of some of the most famous models. The P-61 was the first time I saw this aircraft. I bought it right off the shelf when I saw Monogram had made one in 1/48 scale in the mid seventies!

This is the Monogram Box art from back in the late '70s-early '80s when I first bought it. exact art...

http://i.imgur.com/3UzS985.jpg

Someone has man-handled the box when the pic was taken [notice thebended parts in pic] Monogram had 'extras' in the kits. Notice the three maintenance crew in the pic. The 55 gal. drum was probably in the kit also! It is.[i re-bought this model a few years ago in 1/48, but since Revell bought Monogram and all of it's molds, the one for the P-61 is so full of 'flash'-when molds don't fit tightly together, excess plastic can eke out around the individual part, and you have to 'trim' it off this newer model had a TON of it. Look for "NEW MOLDS" when searching for a model these days....Tamiya and Hasegawa, Eduard all have EXCELLENT molds]

They have a really nice Black Widow at the Hill Air Force Base museum near me. That plane could carry a lot of ordinance.

Something's bugging me. The Decals that come with this model do NOT have the Petie 3rd, decal as pictured above. They have the Petie 2nd decal, like the Monogram P-51 D that I completed back in the '80s. So THAT'S COOL!
