Just re-got a model I bought in the early Seventies, by AMT, the SUPERBUG!

http://i.imgur.com/asD2lxx.jpgIt features a shortened VW body, and four versions. Street, Drag, Dune and Open dune [no outer body] I've thought this was a Revell kit!

It looks like a lot of fun.

Model building is a TON of fun! And finding these kits again, is such a thrill to do 'em! A Second chance, as it were! I was really into Beetles at that time, because we had a couple during my childhood. A pastel light green '64, and a dark blue '66 after we sold the '64. My dad got in an accident in the '66, and that was the last import we owned. Still LOVE bugs...the NEW version also! My favorite original style Beetle is the '74-'75 That had the three color rear turn signal lights like this...

And my second fave VW model, and a toy model I own, The Karman Ghia

Have you ever tried to assemble one of these things - metal earth models? I drove myself 3/4 batshit putting this one together:

Note - this one isn't mine - mine looks like it was in a collision...

Haven't ever seen a musical instrument 'model'. Looks interesting though! Kudos to you for trying to build one! I wasn't alway the best [still aren't, even after all these years of on and off building]

Ok. Lumber purchased, and hardware to assemble the stand and now I'm arranging to buy the Air compressor. Done. And at the same time, the folks at the hobby shop had a bonus! A Zoukei Mura 1/32 scale model of the Dornier Do-335 A-0. Any of you that have heard of Zoukei Mura, they do the ULTIMATE in DETAILED models. And they cost a BUNCH too! Here's their site if you want to take a look...http://www.zoukeimura.co.jp/en/ Here's the one I will receive in about a week...

Today, I also took apart my airbrush and the paint delivery parts are in a jar with pure enamel thinner. You must remember this brush has not been used since the late '80s! But I found out that YouTube can be our FRIEND! People who know what they're talking about, taught me how and when to clean my airbrush, and how it works! I thought I knew that already...I'm sure I must have asked people that worked at Rider's Hobby shop [The Original store on Liberty in Ann Arbor, where I bought a LOT of these models that I still have not MADE. The 1/32 scale Hawker Typhoon, the 1/32 scale Focke Wulf Fw 190 D-9, and a 1/48 scale B-25 B/C from Brazil. I bought two of them and Made one of them for my BFF Dave (†) and I still haven't made it either. The people in the Grand Rapids Mi. store are very cool and helpful also, and my friend 'Q' is the paint guy to 'Go To' and he listened to me as I told him what I doing with my airbrush and he corrected one tip I got from a person on YouTube, to do my OWN experimentation and to find what works for ME...This is the store I bought the Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II (Wart Hog) A few years ago....they gave me a $30 break on the price! and that is a HUGE box compared to what a aircraft model usually has. This Zuikei-Mura model promises to have an even BIGGER box...what's cool is the boxes are made to house the model after it's completed too! with stuctural supports so you can stack the boxes on top of each other to an extent. Model boxes for aircraft usually were NOT built with this ability. only the ability to keep the unassembled parts from harm.[save money on box making] Most all of the 1/32 scale newer models I have bought, Tamiya, Trumpeter, special hobby, HK models.... My eyes are drooping, so it's time for beddy bye tonight, my friends!

YouTube is so wonderful that way! A few years ago when my sewing machine conked out, I was able to order some new parts. With my daughter's laptop next to me with YouTube videos, I was able to take it apart, put in New belts, etc and get it running again, like new! (And I'm klutzy!)

Ok. here's what some of you have wanted to hear. for a while. Kinda. I have the problem with the cockpit of the A-10 A resolved. Unfortunately, I have at least two model planes in front of finishing the A-10 A. Things may go a bit faster with the airbrush back in action though. I received another package today from SQUADRON store, a Resin kit for the A-10 A cockpit, complete with all the details and such. So I can paint it all myself.

I got a clue about what an A-10 A actually looks like in picture. A friend at Rider's Hobby Shop 'Q', told be to go BACK to the web, and just as I suspected back when, it was mostly BLACK. got a TON more pics, and now it's all right. I'll be able to finish the model with what I have now! LOL
