OldRUSHfan Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 (edited) Here's a peep at the 'Concept Book' that is made for each of the Zoukei-Mura model aircraft. They find a surviving aircraft, and study and photograph what they can. With the He 219 A-2 at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. First, a photo from the actual Aircraft's User Manual of the Hoods used by the Radar operator to view what the antenna display as aircraft that need to be shot down.1st hood is for the FuG 212 radar scope, and the one to the right is for the FuG 220 radar scope. Closer pic of the ONLY hood found in the He 219 A2, is here. Both lenses at the bottom of this hood are mounted to view the FuG 220 radar. Here is MY renditions of these two parts. OldRUSHfan Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 The cover of the Zoukei-Mura Concept book of the He 219 A-0 model. the smaller radar antenna set in the middle of the nose cover is the FuG 212 radar, while the larger set on the larger four extension bars are the FuG 220 antennas
OldRUSHfan Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 Here's the PE Bending tool I was so taken with. 1
OldRUSHfan Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Today's work. After all the wait and steps for the engines, the Cockpit flight deck was fairly quick to assemble. The cockpit area from the front. notice the gun actuator, the golden button on the joystick.Steps to clean and care for the brushes. 1. soak in Vallejo Brush Restorer, Dry brush, reuse.Drying the brushes. They are ready to reuse. of course, I always clean them with water, to remove most of the paint first. Those little metal dishes you see in some of these pix in this thread are really cool in this usage with Acrylic paint. This paint dries to a soft vinyl covering, that peels right off of that metal dish like it was never there! cool, huh? 2

Mounted the radar operator's boots.. 2
OldRUSHfan Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 Cockpit/flightdeck unit almost complete, just touch up painting to do, then the first fuselage panels Right side, left side and rear oblique angles. The cockpit/ flightdeck [Radar/radio operator station] next come the fuselage sides on either side of the cockpit/flightdeck. 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 Answering Mr. JD's question, Yes, last year, I did start a Northrop P-61 B, put out by HOBBYBOSS modelsThe Box Art and an actual Pilot's manual from Northrop.First few steps in the instructionsInstument Panel PE parts from 'Big Ed' Eduard PE parts More 'Interior PE parts from 'Big Ed' One sheet from the HOBBYBOSS model The second PE sheet from the HOBBYBOSS model.
OldRUSHfan Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 More...Nearest pic of where this model is at. 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 Back again to the Zoukei-Mura He 219 A-0. The first two body panels, encircling the flightdeck. The two outer panels that will encircle the Flight deck. 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 13, 2018 Author Posted March 13, 2018 Encountered a few mistakes that I have mostly fixed. but Im now about to slap those two panels around the flight deck and start on the main body of the fuselage, which I have been painting and readying the nose section for assembly....tired sumbitch I is! 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 13, 2018 Author Posted March 13, 2018 A picture of what is hidden underneath the nose cone cover at the front of the fuselage. The pic is from the 'Concept Book' that was bought with the model. 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 (edited) The next section, the fuselage behind the cockpit is now together with some of the bulkheads in place. more has to be 'stuffed' in, including the Schräge Musik oblique angle forward firing twin cannons, and a couple more bulkheads. It is sitting upside down at this point. waiting for Black metalic paint to arrive to paint the cannons. One of the colors I missed when ordering the paints, I believe these guys at Zoukei-Mura more than the people who have made other models I've made because I've found the color editors there didn't always do their work too well! Zoukei-Mura folks actually study actual Aircraft from the original makers. and take a LOT of pics! After the Schräge Musik comed the fuselage bottom. Edited March 21, 2018 by OldRUSHfan 2
OldRUSHfan Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 And here is the Floor of the rear section of the fuselage interior. The paint for the Schäge Musik unit should arrive tomorrow. 1
Mr. JD Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 And here is the Floor of the rear section of the fuselage interior. The paint for the Schäge Musik unit should arrive tomorrow. It looks like the color of the tanks is off by 3 shades. I say it again, you really need to work on your attention to detail buddy! 1

That is the paint, and the color specified in the instruction sheet, Mr.J.D. So you'll have to take it up with Zoukei-Mura! lol 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 The paint came in today, Metallic Black, and heretofor I've been told metallic GREY was the color used for German guns in aircraft. Not surprised anymore by finding out other companies had NOT done their due diligence with accurate color findings...More pics tomorrow...
OldRUSHfan Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 Here is the Schräge Musik unit and some parts not used. These are the MK 108 cannons with turned metal barrels not used because mounting hardware won't work with model. Here's the unit in place The unit in place and bulkheads in place front and back
OldRUSHfan Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 (edited) Fuselage middle and rear almost together...A control panel just over the Ventral weapons pod to be added shortly, this part is 3/4 inch x 3/4 inch Edited March 27, 2018 by OldRUSHfan

I don’t think you’ll ever be any good at it. Your lack of ability and attention to detail is very apparent. I’m going to get back to my SnapTite Space Shuttle now. Edited March 27, 2018 by Mr. JD 2

I've made 'snap tite' models, but long after the glue and paint mode started. it was cheap, price wise, and the type caught my eye. It was about HO slot car size...It was a Chevy Corvette from the early '70s....tried to use it with my HO Aurora Thunderjet chassis, but it wasn't a fit. it was a dark tan color...Thanks for the memories...Matter of fact, I have a model of one of the space shuttles..Columbia, I think...lol 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 More tools. Vallejo Brush cleaner, for Acrylic paint. I little alcohol in it but not enough to even make your nose tickle.Model Here's that control unit in the frame above the ventral weapons pod 1
OldRUSHfan Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 Here we go with the Ventral weapons pack, 4 MG 151 20 mm cannons.Making sure I seat the cannons correctly so as to fit the feed tubes later. 1
