37. in The Lonely Hour.

Just based on critical and general public reaction.

To quote from the Golden Girls.

Sam Smith is mopey, dopey and full of crap.

Mick

I hate his music.

Hate, hate, HATE IT!

Sick of all this whiny, shiny high pitched "man" pop. Seriously, this, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, James Bay...WHERE ARE THE MEN?!?

Seriously, I am sick to death of finding more enjoyment with Taylor Swift than any male pop singer of our times today!

WHY CAN'T THEY JUST BE HAPPY?!?

Sam Smith...his Bond theme makes me want to swallow a knife for light relief.

His voice...YES YOU HAVE THE DAMN RANGE YOU DON'T NEED TO USE HIGH NOTES FOR EVERY FREAKIN' NOTE OF EVERY DUMBASS MISERABLE SONG!! AAAAAAAAAAH!

Hate his music so much...dude you don't even know.

Nirvana- Nevermind

this is full of filler.

Like hell it is.

Yes- 90215

5/10- One of the worst albums I own that I can admit to enjoying. But this falls into the "so bad it is actually pretty neat" category. That it has gone on to outsell every other Yes studio album to date strikes me as pretty sad. Going For The One, Tormato, and even the aesthetically similar Big Generator deserved wider acclaim on the pop markets.

I think it's funny that you talk about 90125 as if it's kitsch while speaking positively of Tormato.

Rush- Clockwork Angels

The fanbase seem to think this deserves acclaim on par with the likes of 2112 or Hemispheres.

If that's the case regarding "the fanbase," I agree that they're wrong.

Clockwork Angels is much better than those two albums.

I think Tormato is a wonderful listen. 90215 is ugly eighties pop. Barely deserves the Yes label.

Nevermind is my least favourite Nirvana album. Bleach and In Utero were way better.

90125 I grew up with that album and I love it. So it gets high marks from me. The only thing that is a blight on their datalog is Talk. It's really Rabin solo album with Jon and Chris guest spots.

Mick

I love pop...but I honestly hate all these high pitched whiny male singers, who sing only faux-emotive ballads. Sam Smith, like Mariah Carey, has an amazing range, but they use only the squeaky part, and he sings only crud.

Now...I hate to praise the guy...but Justin Bieber is actually showing signs of artistic merit lately. And Justin Timberlake has a high range, and he sings like a man. Love him! Same goes for Adam Levine.

My problem isn't the voice, it is the endless procession of miserable, bland balladry.

Mick

But the Stranger has Vienna. I guess it also has Don't go changin' so....

Vienna is BY FAR my favourite Billy Joel song! I actually really enjoy a lot of his music, and The Stranger is my favourite album of his!

Vienna is a great song that has the unfortunate Circumstance of being surrounded by over played tunes.

but i like the album.

Mick

An overplayed album doesn't equate overrated if you loved it to begin with.

I still have more Billy to listen too...

Glass Houses? Turnstiles? Nylon Curtains?

Piano Man thru Nylon is pretty much all you will ever need

Turnstiles is AMAZING. Nylon Curtain is my fav Billy Album. Side 1 of glass Houses is such a perfect album side.

The title track to Jane Doe, the way it builds to that climactic last few minutes is breathtaking. Almost cried haha!
