Segue Myles
I listened to Dark Adrenaline this morning, because of something a couple of days ago that Segue posted in a different thread, about that album and its prevalence of pop hooks. I didn't agree wholeheartedly, as I've always thought that it is a fairly dark album (not as much as Broken Crown Halo, which I absolutely love...but pretty dark). And I love Dark Adrenaline, too...upon listening to again just today, I can hear the hooky pop leanings coming through...they're just cloaked in a while bunch of punchy, crunchy, heavy riffage and rhythms...which are fantastic. My overall opinion of it is unchanged, though. I still love it! It depends what you regard as pop...I meant poppy hooks of the classy kind, not the modern pop stylings of Rihanna or what not! Lacuna Coil write amazing melodies, and they incorporate strong melodic choruses in even their heaviest moments! Dark Adrenaline is very much a Shallow Life makeover, that album flopped with the fans, but the band maintained they wanted strong hooks like those on SL, but with the metal ramped up and the energy more infectious. DA is a masterpiece, and thankfully brought back a number of fans lost with SL. And once again, I find myself having to defend Shallow Life. I love that album with a passion! Segue Myles
I first heard my wings off a sampler i bought. I have been a fan ever since and find them unique amongst the female fronted bands. My favorite 2 albums are in a reverie and karmacode I honestly do not think any other band compares to them. Paradise Lost and The Gathering come closest! Glad that there is another fan here!
