laughedatbytime
STFU, Jon. Chicago style pizza is only the best foodstuff ever created... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-jon-stewart-rips-chicago-pizza-20131114,0,3499813.story Deep dish pizza? How about "tomato soup in a bread bowl." Or a "(expletive) casserole" that should be served with "canned onion rings on top." And that was some of the nicer things Jon Stewart had to say about Chicago pizza during a ranting segment on the Daily Show that started with the One World Trade Center in New York City beating out Willis Tower as the country's tallest building. Stewart then knocked one of Chicago's points of pride: deep dish. "When I look at your deep dish (expletive) pizza, I don't know whether to eat it or throw a coin in it and make a wish," Stewart says. "And if I made a wish, it would be that I'd wish for some real (expletive) pizza." Noting how cold and windy Chicago winters can be, Stewart wondered whether we "cut it open and climb inside of it . . .to keep warm." http://www.frankiespizzachanhassen.com/stuffed%20pizza.JPG

ColdFireYYZ
It's practically a crime for me to say this as I'm from New Haven, but I've always preferred thicker crust pizza over thin crust. If I ever go to Chicago, I'm definitely going to try real deep dish pizza. I've only had it from chain restaurants like Uno's, but even that was pretty good. Gino's East is my favorite, but you really can't go wrong.

Mara
I love real Chicago deep dish pizza. And yep, prefer it to the greasy NY style. I've spent time in both cities. I'll take Chicago any day over NYC. I've no desire to go back to New York. If I had the means, I could happily live in Chicago. Great rant! :D I like both styles, but prefer thin...more flavor than bread. For deep dish out west, Uno in San Fran is pretty awesome!
Janie
Pizza is one of those foods that you want to keep eating and eating and eating. Two bites of a deep dish pizza and you're gut-bombed for a week straight. Go Jon!! "Noting how cold and windy Chicago winters can be, Stewart wondered whether we 'cut it open and climb inside of it . . .to keep warm'." *snort*

The Analog Grownup
That is not a pizza, that's a pie. Real authentic pizza has a thin crusty crust and is not smothered in cheese and toppings. The old saying "less is more" certainly applies to a great pizza!

Balderdash. Were we talking hockey teams or general cleanliness, Chicago would dominate New York without question. But pizza is NYC's turf. Nope. I know NYC wants to take credit for everything popular, and I realize the first pizzeria in the US was opened in New York, but they didn't invent it. JohnnyBlaze
NY pizza is to Led Zeppelin as Chicago pizza is to The Who. Well, not really but my point is that it's all good!!! It depends on my mood which one I want but I'll never turn down either unless I'm full. Happy Jack Stairway To Heavenly Pizza Pie!!!
