And if you feel that it is, please seek some form of mental healthcare, because you're a f***ing goob. The post proves nothing other than the whiners are a wee minority and will say really hateful or mean stuff. I know its not a reflection on me, it's on the poster. Oh, and there is only one Goob--the philospical Demi-God of the Rush Forum--Rushgoober "mean?" Good stuff.
bobtown Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 easily thumbs up. a good chunk of Power Windows? Excellent and highly appropriate considering CA is best album since.

morgan_of_avalon Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Hi there! New to TRF and so happy to be here! I got to see them on 9/9/12 at Jiffy Lube Live and was totally blown away by the set list. This is only my second time seeing them live (Time Machine being my first) and I thought the show was amazing. Loved all the songs from PW in the first set and was thrilled with the heavy CA second set. CA has quickly become one of my favorite albums of theirs, so I give the whole show a BIG two thumbs up!!!!
jymyben Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 i've seen two shows, indy and chi town... this is my favorite setlist ever, and i've seen them since 81... why? because it's not full of radio songs and standards.... and they hit my favorite wal era records big time... kudos to rush for stepping out for a tour... love it....

Awesome...thanks for sharing. On the night of the first show, someone commented how this was a setlist for the fans...I think they were right! Hard to believe that 85% of the voters agree with you
twwells Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I voted for thumbs up, it rocks after getting spammed by Tombstone Mountain! No worries though, of course there are songs I'd rather hear, and the synth era stuff is probably my least favorite, but they still rocked in Pittsburgh. I was in section 102, row V, and the only one around that was standing almost the whole show other than the ones closer to the stage and/or floor. It was also nice hearing some of those songs with more ballsy bass guitar tone, especially 'The Body Electric' and 'Where's my Thing?'. I'll be seeing them again in Cleveland next month too and don't regret spending the money

Welcome to the Rush Forum. What a great show at the Jiffy! It seems the band really knows how to put together a show for the fan. Power Windows material was just spot on live. I was really happy with Geddy's voice...he really sings this material so well. Clockwork Angels is just another level...never though I'd see Rush play metal like that--so awesome!!!
bashton Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Absolutely awesome at the Palce last night. I wasn't originally too excited about hearing a lot from the new album, but it ended up being a highlight for me. The string section was an awesome addition and we really loved watching the two cello players rocking out; they clearly were having a blast! I especially enjoyed The Garden, which is my favorite cut from the new disc, even though I am a hard core rocker. The three Neil solo's were a cool switch up and Geddy was "on it" all night. All in all, as a 35+ year Rush fan, I loved each and every minute of it. Bashton
BriGuy Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Wow, check out those poll results. Vast majority absolutely loved it! Me included. Don't let the vocal minority get ya down!
rushman321 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 You need to add another category: " I don't care about the setlist. They are still touring!

Koover Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) After reading this entire thread, I can't believe all the so called, educated Rush fans bitching and complaining about this set list. Some of you have zero clue ( you know who you are too) if you think anything other than it's ALL about Ged's pipes. I don't want to hear him sing anything pretty much from the 70's anymore. I'd rather hear him sing in a range where he can handle it and sound good LIVE. Get a grip people. If you're a Rush fan, how can you complain about anything they play at this stage of their careers. Be grateful they are even touring anymore. If you dont like it, pretend they already retired and the fans that appreciate them still killing it, will go to the show. The set list is great for their age, Ged's vocal ability (he's almost 60 for cripes sake) and something just a little bit different that we haven't heard .....forever? brideofskully Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 It's brilliant - from everything I see on videos from this tour, it's fresh to them, challenging, and energizing, and you can see it in their performances. ☠
Tombstone Mountain Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 QUOTE (brideofskully @ Sep 20 2012, 11:16 AM) It's brilliant - from everything I see on videos from this tour, it's fresh to them, challenging, and energizing, and you can see it in their performances. ☠ I agree...they are energized, having a blast, and their playing is off the charts. It's fun watching them get off playing this setlist. Also, Geddy's voice is just nailing it.
JimZing Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm glad to see them favoring the new material on this tour. While, like many older fans, my favorite Rush material was from the 76 - 81 period, that does not diminish the greatness of this new album. I'm just grateful that 30 years after first seeing them, I can still watch this band kicking as$ playing music that they believe in.
Steve Wanders Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Loved the show in Chicago. I really don't care what they play any more. Would I like to hear a bunch of stuff from RUSH & Fly By Night & whatever? SURE! Would I like to hear the entire Hemispheres or A Farewell To Kings or PW or 2112? Also sure! They have so much material and who is to say what is good or not. They have to get tired of playing the same stuff over and over. After just coming off the Time Machine tour I bet they are sick of playing anything from Moving Pics. I love it all!!!! And to the person that complained that they played too many songs in a row from CWA instead of breaking it up over the night, you do understand that it is a concept album and that all of the songs go together and in order? That would be like breaking 2112 up into a bunch of single songs. I thought that it was interesting that Neil had the 3 mini solos. I think that it kind of took a little away from that usual monster solo that I was expecting. I love that they changed it up a little at this show and moved Spirit to the ending song spot and still having 2112 as the final finale. I did miss Working Man but the version they had been doing was not my favorite anyway......I have not missed a tour since I went to my first show back on Dec. 15, 1978 at the International Amphitheater (sp) in Chicago with STARZ as their backup band. Every tour, loved every one!!!!!!! I will keep going and buying their stuff as long as they keep going...............Just my opinion
Nootch Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I just saw the show on 9/18 in Detroit (actually Auburn Hills) and was blown away! Couldn't be happier with the set list even minus "Seven Cities of Gold". Helped I was in the second row in front of Geddy!!!!

toddf74 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 I went to the Chicago show last weekend. I had a blast and thought they really sounded great. Of course I wanted to hear more of the older staples, but the new songs are solid, so it's okay with me. What made me happy was to see them up there having a good time. Geddy running around on stage. It was just great to see those old farts still rocking out!!! The last time I saw them was on the Counterparts tour, so it was really special for me to see them again, and I would gladly go again next time they pass this way.
