Fall!

Bright, crisp mornings, warm afternoons.

Poplars blaze the field.

Milkweed soars like feathers on the wind.

The smell of wood smoke seasons the breeze.

Pumpkins, cider, ripe Cortland apples; bright colors carpet the woods.

Wild geese cry as the journey southward.

The Wheel has turned again.

Run for the Cure

Suffering pain and physical exhaustion

Knowing your limits a necessary precaution

Empty thoughts and mental desertion

Muscles aching from over-exertion

Lactic acid burning the thighs and calves

Endorphins separating me into halves

Mouth is dry but clothes drenched all wet

Eyes halfway shut stinging from pouring sweat

Glanced at the watch showing elapsed time

My heart is racing yet so sublime

Running smoothly and easy-going

Feeling my blood and oxygen flowing

Suddenly it came at the speed of sound

Breaking to a sprint as my footsteps pound

I finish in a flash and you on my mind

Breaking record time as I cross the finish line

Penny and Uno

Penny is a polar bear cub

She lives in the Canadian Arctic

Warnings of global warming

Provide an instinct of migration

Northbound

Penny traveled with her mother

South from James Bay

To her new home

Hundreds of Kilometers behind her

Memories left behind

A cold barren Arctic land

Fishing

Swimming

Breaking the ice

Growing and developing blubber for warmth

Much like her mother

Whom she loves very much

Remaining close at night

Between motherly-cuddled paws

Sounds of small but distinct roars

Snores as she sleeps

Nothing can ever hide that big black-lipped smile

Uno is a giant panda cub

He lives the high mountains of Tibet

His black and white fur

Is a Yin-Yang balance

Black patches around his eyes

Vibrant

Looking around for yummy insects

Blinking

When none are found he feeds on bamboo

Quite scarce leaving him quite scared

The pain of hunger

Provides an instinct of migration

Northbound

Climbing and crawling through the cool Tibetan rocks

Hoping to find a new habitat

Where he can grow

Memories left behind

Free to roam without captivity

Like an explorer in an unchartered-territory

Among an abundance of bamboo

Staring up into a tall forest

Nothing can ever hide that big black-lipped smile

Though Penny and Uno are only cubs

They face one common challenge -

Survival

Running from their worst predator -

Man

Picture Me

Money-conscious

Credit is never late

No credit for myself though

Credit is never due

Fear of arrogance -

Or fear of what others will think?

Thinks very hard

And worries even harder

Hardly ever focuses

Hard not to

Often lives in the past

Often thinks of the future

When the present is just slipping by

There is no smile

When there is nothing to smile about

Saying 'cheese' is no reason

A smile is never taken for granted

Everybody worship Barney,
don't ever let your faith falter.
He's obviously reached the rank of a God,
'coz now he's got an altar.

Altar/Alter....................

Dammit! It's art!!!!

Umm............... who gives a fart?

<Startled realization that I'm in the poetry thread.>

Better start using my head.

Dedicated to rebelx

I try to reach within the depths

of the morass of contradiction I call my mind.

To decipher honesty and truth

amidst the self created barriers.

To write Dear Blank letters to myself.

Saying

Dear Me,

Stop hiding behind acrostic witterings

and clever words and puns.

Signed,

You

I tried to join you

but perhaps in a startling piece of prescience

I am

BANNED

Thankfulness

Thank you

For all your support

You have given me

Throughout my charitable cause

Thank you

For all the times

You encouraged me

During all my doubts and my flaws

Thank you

A million times over

For being a friend

through and through

Thank you

For being there always

But most of all

For just being you

The Colourful Stare

Can't help to sense those eyes staring at us

The old Chinese lady

sitting in the subway two seats left

Eyes stuck to us like the Best Picture of the Year

The train reaches our stop

We sense her head move perfectly in phase

with us getting up to leave the car

The End

Can't help to feel the young couple staring at us

All four eyes

As we walk past them hand-in-hand on Yonge Street

Their rubber necks move perfectly in phase

as if we are models at a fashion show

Applause

Is my hair alright today?

Too much gel?

Is the zit on my face showing?

Still not healed?

Yes I am Asian and

yes my wife is a lot taller than me

Yes she is blonde and

yes she has blue eyes

Tough Shit.

Peppermint Mocha

Standing outside of Starbucks

Sipping my Peppermint Mocha

Scarf tightly bundled around my neck

People walking

Carrying their candied-coloured shopping bags

Of Christmas gifts to be

For their loved ones

Winter wind

Blending with the busy sounds

Of traffic -

Cars driving by

The cold breeze

Brush at my cheeks

Sensations leaving my face flush-red

Like the colour of the Starbucks cup

Glitters of snowflakes descending

Upon the winter afternoon sun

The sweetness of chocolate

And the cool taste of peppermint

With only the coffee keeping me warm

I take another sip

The snow falls harder

Whitening the sunny skies

All Bundled up

And I slowly begin to walk

Reflections of people in shop windows

Busily passing by

Talking on cellphones

Humans being consumers

Allowing me to smile -

Finally consuming my

Satisfaction guaranteed

In the last sip

Of my favourite mocha

During my favourite time of the year

Breeze is blowing

On me again -

No Peppermint Mocha to keep me warm

Steady stream of people

Pass on by still

Holding on to their shopping bags

Full of flashy ads

Waving me ingenious ideas

For buying gifts

For my loved ones too

Ode to higher thought.

A beautiful rainbow,

a path we follow

Souls either full

or sometimes hollow.

A collage of peices

drifting in minds,

pulling together

in rhythms and rhymes.

Knowledge and Beauty

tied in infinite space.

Music and theater

their intricate lace.

Don't laugh. tongue.gif
